H23 VTEC dyno plot

Heres the dyno graph...

The set up is basicly all OEM...

H23 Block:
Stock H23 crank
Stock H23 rods w/ ARP bolts
Type S Pistons
New mains/rods/thrust
New Oil/Water pumps

H22 Head:
Stock Cams
Stock Valves
Portflow 3 angle valve job
IB valvetrain
IB Spec IM Prototype
SMSP Header

This motor was purpose built for the street, to run on 91 octane and to be a reliable long lasting daily driven type of set up. Jeffs previous H23 VTEC ran for several years with no problems, even with the daily abuse of 8000 rpms... ran like a champ... I expect more of the same from this motor...

Heres a dyno of his old motor...

This motor continued to run strong long after this graph was recorded in 2000...

Last I saw it was in 02, thats the last time anyone has seen it actually... I think the guy Jeff sold that car to moved out of state...

More proof that H23 VTEC can be reliable

no, the rpm on the bottom isnt right... The motor only rev'd to 8200'ish...

I e-mailed Jeff and asked him about that, Ill let you know what he has to say...

Or, you can call Shawn Church, ask him about it... Its his dyno/software so Im sure hed know better than anyone else about the rpm readings being off...

ANd yes, the bottom end was balanced

I wasnt there for the actual dyno session, I spoke to Jeff afterwards and asked him to e-mail me the graph...

Make up your mind if the green line is hp or torque.

You can't point @ the green line and say, I made x torque @ y RPM and then have the line never drop off, but the blue line, according to this dyno graph, does.

Also, without an RPM scale, the dyno graph is pretty useless.

What fuel management is he running?

When i first saw the numbers I wasn't too impressed, then I saw that he's running stock cams. Throw in some lumpy cams and that thing'll put out some pretty incredible numbers.

Perhaps the comments added to the dyno plot via MS Paint read like an advertisement.

oh duh, it says hondata at the top of the graph anyway.

anyone else find the vtec engagement at 5150 cool yet funny?

taken from a govt website:
"5150 is a designated California Welfare and Institutions Code. This code allows a professional person designated by Fresno County to admit you to a psychiatric facility for involuntary 72-hour treatment and evaluation. This person could be a police officer or perhaps a crisis Mental Health worker."

uh yeah, basically stock man, from what he's sayin, I'm way damn impressed, 233 and 178, all motor is hella nice numbers if you ask me. I'm a big fan of the h23/vtec.

You know I called import biulders a few times and they said that they weren't doing any more public work is this so?

Very nice.

I think the messed up numbers on the dyno sheet make it less creditable.

I would like some more information on this engine.

No, not true at all... They arent doing any labor jobs at all anymore though... They are strictly retail now, parts and motors only...

They dont even have a # now, they are basicly all e-commerce with all company contact done via e-mail...

And yes its almost all stock

Stock cams
Stock head (portflow 3 angle valve job)
Stock valves
Stock crank
Stock rods (arp rod bolts)
Stock/OEM Type S pistons (Std.)

The only real aftermarket parts used were the SMSP header, the IB IM, the custom exhaust, FPR, injectors and Hondata...

The thing that sets this car apart is what wasnt even discussed... ATR gearing with a quaife LSD...

Itll be taken down to Carlbad in the next week or 2 to see whatit does at the track...

Oh, and for those who didnt know... Its in a reg EG, VX model...

Just let the man talk his ideas. If people arent allowed to express their thoughts then we dont learn anything new. I dont see any thing wrong. Just showing what can be made with the right parts.

Notice it's using a stock TB too, so I assume stock bore? Looks as though the stock TB isn't any restriction at all for most NA setups...you never see that kinda torque and HP on big bored TB setups....

Discuss?
