H22A4 Piston Question

Hey guys,

You might remember me from the JDM piston thread in this forum. I have another kinda related question. If I were to get USDM H22A4 pistons with the floating wrist pin would I be able to attach the H23A1 rods or would the small end be different sizes?

Thanks,

Does anyone know this? I would really like to confirm this before I buy the pistons.

Thanks,

Same size, you just have to have the rod end re-bushed for a floating wrist pin. I don't know the details of how it is done though.

Hum.... I guess I will have to figure out how to do this. Do you know how different the bushings are on the two. You think a good shop would be able to do the job?

Thanks again,

I am planning on doing this over the summer. I think any good machine shop would be able to rebush the H23A rods.

Yeah but how much would it be? I also need to find a good shop to do it. Maybe I could have the H23 rods shot peened while their out. That shouldn't cost too much.

So if I can do this I will have an H23A1 with an 11:1 CR and the precious floating wrist pins of the A4

Correct...

Shotpeening is a good idea as well, if you aren't going for aftermarket rods.

http://www.leitnerbush.com

These guys are in Toronto. Look under services

Rods
Rods can be rebushed for free floating pins and the big ends can be resized.

You can e-mail them for prices. They are highly recommended in the Toronto area anyway...
