hi guys i'm new in this page, and i have a question about a problem that i have with my h22a, and here is the thing:
i bought a BB4 Si Vtec, everything was fine, a few days later when I roll in the street and release the throttle to stopping on
a traffic light the car starts to shake also when i'm standing with the car turned on, the RPM's on the board begin to go up and down; to finish is spending a lot of gas.
I changed the TPS and the idle air control valve, and nothing.
i don't know what to do, if you can help me please I would appreciate.
your bouncy idle, how high and how low? only when the car is warm or happens as soon as you start the car? if it only happens when its warm, check your Fast idle valve. its it happens as soon as u start the car, check for vacuum leaks.
thanx pineabs for the answer, it happens inmediatly i start the car; i was reading about the problem and said: to test the FITV and IAC i have to cover with my finger first the upper hole inside the TB and see what happens (i did it, and nothing happen) and then try with the second (the lower) hole, and see what happens (i did it too, and when i covered it the engines just stop). Why the engine stops when i covered the lower hole? and you really think that i have a vacuum leak or you think that i can clean the FITV?
if your answer is a vacuum leak, in which part can i begin to find the vacuum leak?

prolly not a vacuum leak if u didn't do anything to the car, but if it is vacuum leak is a pain to find, it'll be after the TB before air gets to the engine, so u have to get a bottle of water or carb cleaner and spry it over seals, or area that u think is leaking and when water hits it the idle returns to normal for a bit.
another thing, days ago the catalytic light turned on, i'd read about that and says that is a "obstructed catalytic" but i don't have a catalytic, i have a complete 2.5 exhaust without it; what do you think that can be this?
yes, try cleaning the fast idle thermo valve like pineabs suggested. I get a bouncy idle every few years and it's always remedied by cleaning that valve.
ok i cleaned the FITV and putted it back; i started the engine and like then minutes later the idle issues returned but just a little and i still have the check and catalytic light turned on; my question is: if i want to bypass the FITV, how can i do it? how i should reroute the coolant hoses bypassing the FITV to IAC?
