H22 swap in future

I am almost ready to buy myself an H22 but I am not sure how far I want/need to go with this motor. I am definetly going to go with a set of cams but I'm not sure if I should pull the rest of the motor apart and replace the bearings. If I buy a JDM H22 will the bottom end of the motor be good enough to leave alone? If I go that far should I go with a little more compression w/the pistons? I want to stay under $5000 including the engine and tranny. And I will do all the work myself.

Thanks for any opinions.

Most JDM H22 motors are low mileage that you don't have to do anything with the bottom end. Even high mileage import motors rarely need to have the bearings replaced. There is a thread on the board here somewhere which says what the basic maintenance needed for an H22 swap is. If you search I'm sure you can find it.
