Exhaust Mods Advice!!! Por Favor!!!

Ok, so I want to do some exhaust mods to achieve the following: power gains, deep/throaty exhaust sound (No raspy rice sounds!!!) and I dont want to spend an arm and a leg.

I have installed an OBX header I got a good price on ebay. I wasnt too impressed with the gains, but I did notice my motor has a good deep growl (bout as much as a NA 4 cylinder can get I suppose). I hear that if I wanted max power gains from a header, RMF or the like for around $1000. Thats not an option to me.

Im thinking i need to free up the exhaust flow more. I listened to some exhaust clips of catbacks and didnt like the sound. I listened to ex clips on magnaflow.com and DID like what I heard from other import cars with magnaflow mufflers. Im thinking about going with a universal magnaflow muffler and possibly adding a hi flow cat down the road for increased exhaust flow and deeper exhaust sound. I have heard that leaving the stock resonator on will decrease raspy sounds that may come with new muffler/hi flow cat.

Does anyone think this would achieve close to what Im looking for? Im sure I could get the hi flow cat and muffler for less than $200. I would install the cat myself but would have the shop I work at weld the muffler on. Would I be wasting my time/money?
