STR 70mm Throttle Body - couple people I know use this one, and there is no problems. Skunk2 just happens to make bad tb's for preludes.

Are you running a standalone engine management? You can fix the idle issue with a standalone. I don't think that changing the TB will help you at all. Idle is controlled by the IAC system. With proper engine management, you can adjust the IAC duty cycle and set your target idle properly.

You may also have an issue with intake leaks. An improper installation or something not connected will lead to idle problems. Does the Skunk2 use the stock IAC valve?

I run an AEM EMS UEGO. I first droppped the car off with the tuner. (ASE Certified Master Technician also an AEM Trained and certified tuner. He is the best around this area. He tried and tried and stated its because of the TB. His suggestion was to apply a stock TB. My setup is too agressive for a stock TB. At least I think so. I cant get a consistent idle with this darn thing. Sometimes the idle will stick. Sometimes the car just shuts off. I cant get the car to idle below 1100 rpm which is really a pain. Ive been tooling wiht AEM with direction from a friend and we have got it a little better from where it was but still the problems exist. My set up is below.......is there anything else that stands out that could be causing this problem? Yes the stock IAC valve is used. I cleaned it pretty well.

Wow that's really weird. The reason I say it is the IAC valve is that idle air has nothing to do with the throttle body main inlet. At idle, the throttle plate is completely shut (unless there are leaks or problems with the throttle cable). Air comes in through special small passages through sides of the TB. The IAC solenoid controls how much air gets let in through these idle passages.

If Skunk2 does something different or the gasket sealing the TB to the IM is bad, it could cause air leak issues. I think it would be at least worth removing the TB and inspecting it for problems. I would also make completely sure you have no uncapped ports on your IM or other air leaks.

All that being said, I think Skunk2 products are all crappy. It could just be bad or defective product design.

Have you tried a stock TB to see how it idles? That way you know for sure it's the TB.

I sold my stock Tb. What an idiot I am. This actually my second TB from Skunk2. The first one had a binding issue. So Its hard to tell. I do need to find a stock Tb to put on this car for diagnostic purposes.

DH racing is garbage

Hello I’m going to but my foot in my own ass here guys so here it goes...

so we all know that I have been a big supporter of DH-Racing... most of my work is don’t by them... well where do I start... every part I have received from them is garbage and a rip off and promises of parts that are supposed to be there that aren’t...

My head was supposed to be ported and polished and it was... halfway...
My block was supposed to be bored over to a 2.3L and sleeved with bigger pistons... block is unsleved with STOCK pistons not bored....

I found all this out when I took my car to be tuned and this is what they discovered I should have been smart enough to catch it myself but I didn’t really know anything about the pistons and what the block should look like...

Bottom line is his a lier he ripped me off of thousands of dollars and now doesn’t answer my phone calls...

so if anyone is thinking about buying ANYTHING from DH-Racing I’m tell you to go somewhere else he will just give you bull**** and false hope and lie and you won’t get what you ordered...

I’m a dumbass and now I’m ****** I know....

if you post anywhere elce or know somone thinking about anything DH dont let them do it spread the word and lets put his ass out of bisness so this dont happen to anyone elce...

so you made an account just to pull up an old thread? Dave has worked with me since last August of 07 on some really radical stuff for the h22. Yes his work takes some time..so does any other shop who is worth anything on the import scene. If you really feel like you got ripped off, keep calling him and get it fixed. Why dont you take some pictures of this "halfway" port and polish and the unsleeved block and let us see what was done wrong

So take it apart dude, why did you install an unfinished product? Why didnt you take pictures of it all then? So you are saying you driving around with some passages ported but others not? You are slandering him dude, and all I can say is good things about the same guy who willing jumped in with his fab shop for several of my projects and also rigged up some things for the school's chemistry research team here.

As a consumer if he really did rip you off then you were stupid to install the products. I've gone through a dozen different manifolds and about 6 different res kits with him each time test fitting them, and wanting a change to the design and sure enough 10 business days each time arrived at the PO for pick up. How do we know you didnt just go to a real novice tuner/install shop and they were just pulling your leg trying to make you be more interested in their products? /thread

Unless you have more proof, I would keep things quiet. We all have opinions and some bad experiences, but your need more proof.

dude you keep mouthing off and still we see no pictures. Every other valid complaint i've seen against a race shop has been well documented with pictures and emails - where are yours? Those dual tbs once you learn to spell the things you are claiming to have are off a prototype h22 build, we established a long time ago would take 2 IMS to run things properly without having conflicting air flows.

Get some pictures up of your horrible work if you really expect some to receive any credibility

then you have no credibility, and now you're cursing at me. You proved my point, no proof no credible complaint kid, grow up and be on your way. Still real dumb of you to put on an unfinished head port and run it, if that's really the case. You could atleast take pictures of your dual TB setup if you really have it - let's see something geeze

yea, just talked with Dave, he has only sold 3 dual tb setups so far, the only person and I have documentation to provide if you really want to push this kid, only one person has bought them AND head work, none have had block work. So I'm calling you out now, Dave is a one man fabricator and shop worker, period that's why he takes time but everything comes with warrantys and has done many sends and send backs over the time with me.

Here is the cell # for him, if you really got a legit case call him he's waiting on a call from you: 702-788-1327

Let's try to keep this civil guys. Rather than profanity, name calling, and a pissing match. Let's use etiquette and some factual basis for discussion.
