crower 2's with stock valvetrain

Well at one point crower reccomended their spring and retainer kit be used with the stage 2 stock idle lobes...now it says it requires it.

But heres my question, I know people have used the stage twos with stock idle lobes with the stock valvetrain with no problems for some cases 2 years of abuse...but why not the stage twos with the modified idle lobe? In theory they should work the same?

Is there a clearance issue? A wear issue? I dont get how a few more degrees overlap and a little bit of lift on the idle lobes will wear the stock pieces more then that big ole lump in the middle when you hit vtec?

I got some stage 2's i wont to throw them in but what do you guys think?

^^ it's probably a valve-float issue; stock springs arn't as stiff, and with the higher lift/duration cams, the springs may not "spring" fast enough, which is bad.

but over stock rev-limit only? I'm wondering what would be the disadvantage of running the modified idle lobes on stock valvetrain the big cam is the same as the other stage 2a2 that are alright to run on stock

Whelp, I don't know how stg. 2 cams will work with the stock valvetrain with a stock rev limit... But keep in mind that the higher lift/duration on those cams covers the ENTIRE rev range (minus the stock idle lobes), so your springs will be worked harder than with stock cams; if your valvetrain is in good shape, you could probably get away with it for a while; but if you've had ANY issues with the valvetrain, I'd rethink upgrading it, due to the serious issues that can arise from valvetrain failure.

In summation, the cams will probably work with the stock valvetrain; BUT, you MAY be pushing your luck relying on them, depending on the condition of your motor.

If your user name is the same as it is here, all you have is a head for sale. I searched under Crower H22, Crower H22a, Crower Prelude, Crower Honda Prelude, etc.

Nevermind, I'm not interested in chasing these down, I'll find them somewhere else.
