bb4 missfire after lying for months - vafc problem?

Hi there guys, Im david and newish here (long time trawler small time poster). Anyhoo I bought a prelude bb4 off my mate, he had it lying at the golf course for a few months and the battery died. After a recharge she runs alright but has developed a random missfire when the foot is put down gently or hard, at even throttle its fine and its not the worst missfire in the world. I took off the dizzy cap to find no moisture, and gave it a clean.

I took out the spark plugs to find black sooty carbon deposits on every one, like they have all been burnt. So im thinking the missfire isnt a cable/plug inparticular. The only thing i can imagine is that the VAFC thats installed may have reset itself throwing the fuelling to cock. There was no missfire before it was sitting.

Any ideas? If it is the apexi vafc how can I remedy the solution as I dont want to be running on a lean or rich motor..

Also noticed that since lying its puffing lots of white smoke, at least I think its white smoke, its very cold so could be condensation?

Cheers
Dave

having done a lot of reading apparently if the HG is on its way out that can cause a random misfire... however, I also thought this came with mayo in the radiator cap, however there is no loss in coolant and the cap is nice and fresh

First off, I would reset or even disconnect the vafc for the time being until you get everything fixed.
