You probably can but what's the point? You won't gain much unless you compensate for it. The OEM ecu can only do so much.

depends on what cams youre planning to run. if its anything other than type-s cams its pointless

^^yup that or maybe stage I cams but again, like mentioned before, it would be pointless. You not gunna gain much out of it, nothing noticeable to the wheels anyway.
If your going higher than type s or stage I you might as well build the head and get it tuned for it to really pay off

would the vafc be better for an auto? i have an auto and i remember someone telling me it would be better if i just used a piggy back tune like the vafc, but the people at Gude said they made custom ecu's for each of their head packages and that i should just use that. they never emailed me back and told me if they could tune it for an auto tranny, so right now im guessing my plans are just to get a vafc
a little input would be much appreciated

1. If you want some good gains, piggyback isn't the way to go.

2. You should be doing a tranny swap instead of building up your motor. You're going to create a big weak point.

^^ agreed. The stock auto tranny fails without the help of added power as is.

i would do auto to manual conversion and then worry about building the engine. Besides a VAFC no tuning system works with auto, well at least any tuning system thats worth anything.

well i couldnt pass up this deal on the head, $600 for a head thats worth around 2-3g's? yeah i think everyone would jump on that. i have a tranny cooler installed, i know it doesn't help all that much but it does help. as for the swap i'm taking in donations

^don't all autos come with a tranny cooler already???

I don't think it's the heat that is causing the problem for the auto, I think it's just a failed design.

yes they do but it doesnt really help all that much, so like other on this forum i put another one on infront of the a/c condenser. with it on i can tell a difference in firmer and somewhat smoother shifts.
I think im going to go ahead an get the vafc bcuz someone local is selling their used one for like $45, so i'll just use that until i can get afford a 5spd swap and a tuned ecu

Neo is the newest version of the discontinued VAFC. Most of us have moved onto obd2-obd1 conversions already. We still use it on some other cars tho. its a good unit.
