btw, i am also quite serious, i really have a cheerios gasket

also, once someone shows you how to do it, i really doubt you'd need a kit to do the mods; its really rather simple to do.

Well, I have a JRSC. I did this in conjunction with a hondata IM gasket install to help keep my intake temps down.

I did this because I want my car to be like shark's (minus the SS ) j/k

I actually did feel a slight difference, when it was cold out it seemed to pull a bit harder, but I think that what gains this mod can get you can easily be mistaken for being in your head (ie, really not that much)

Hmmm, might just try this on the 4th gen this summer. Question though - any reason to think the valve might get damaged at all or just seize up because of this mod at all. I may want to convert it back in the winter.

Would anyone be interested in a "kit" made up of an EGR block plate, a plate to seal off the fast idle valve, and one for the bottom of the eacv on the front of the IM? I'm thinking just some lightly polished aluminum for pretty cheap. It will make it a lot more simple.

beat you to it=p - egr block plate anyway. I quickly machined it out of 1mm thick copper however - better material for changes with heat. Not aesthetically pleasing - but no one will ever see it. I have 4 extra from making my own.

1mm thick? I would not trust that to stay sealed. That's pretty thin stuff.

opps - it's 1/16" of an inch about ~1.5mm. Why wouldn't it seal? It's not extremely thin; it's very rigid. It's not made out of copper foil which is .5mm. It's about 10 sheets of printing paper. There is nothing wrong with the integrity of the material for this type of application.

shouldn't...

i've had one sitting in my toolbox for a year, and just sold it to someone, and it worked just fine on their car.

the problem with that is if you overtorque the nuts, you'll end up stripping the last threads on the studs, and you'll never get your egr plate off (without cutting the nuts). trust me, this happened when i used some thin sheetmetal to cover the egr. afterwards i used a 5mm aluminum plate and it works fine.

besides the fact this needs to be FAQ'ed is their any problems for the car that is in the cold climate. My idle is erratic (surging up and down) i'm asumming its the fast idle (isn't donig it so much anymore in the spring) will this cure the problem and on the same token, will it cause problems next winter?

Last threads on the studs connected to the intake manifold("Bottom of studs"?) What do you mean by the last threads? From what I think your describing would happen regardless of the size of the plate if you overtorque. If that would happen, it would also be hard to remove the egr valve alone without the plate. Let me know if im reading you right

Shouldn't be any problems for cars in colder climates.

The block plate should stop the irratic idle from doing the coolant bypass mod.
