Hey guys, i'm ordering my TE37's sometime this week, but I'm having difficulty deciding which offset to go with. I know some ppl said that they got the 40mm offset and grinded it down to 44mm (how much was it to grind down anyways? is that good for the integrity of the rims?) But if I'm gonna grind down the rims, why not get the 48mm offset? Do they stick too far into the wheel well or something? What about the 40mm? The rims and tires don't stick out of the fender well do they?

For a 7" wide wheel, +40mm will be perfectly flush with the outter edge of the front fenders. If you get 225 series tires on this setup, you will stick out, but 205 or 215 series is OK. Ideally, for 7" wide wheels, you'll want around +44 or +45mm...
Now if you are talking about 7.5" wide wheels, +40mm is no good. The front wheels will protrude out from the fender by 0.25" with that offset. Around +48mm or +50mm should be perfect for a 7.5" wide wheel...
Cool thanks, just the answer i was looking for. I'm getting the 7.5" width. Ok now onto the tires, where am I going to get them? I'm pretty sure i'm going to go with the pirelli P7000 series, but I don't know where to get them. The option i have no is discout tire, but i've heard several horror stories from ppl on this board about scratches on the rims (right ODL?). I'm not going to spend 2000 on my rims only to have them scratch it!!

jiggly, try taking a look at the yokohama AVS's and prada's in addition to the pirelli p7000/p7000 supersport. A couple of friends of mine were unhappy with the p7000 supersports... but that was just them. Just suggesting that you keep those other ones in mind too.. should be around the same price range. Ill be lookin for your car on campus when you get those wheels!! gonna look badass!
I heard good things about the AVS's too, but do they come in 225?

Nice choice!! Be prepared to wait though my friend, unless the wheels are in stock. There is a large waitin list right now IN JAPAN for some of VOLKs wheels. NAmely the SE-37ks, but i have been waitin four + months for my wheels. Try to have yours shipped by plane if possible!

7.5" wide rims with 40mm will NOT protrude out from the fenders. They will definitely rub the fender lips but NOT sticking out. If you don't mind rolling the fenders, 7.5" with 40mm fits perfectly. However, if you don't want to roll the fenders, then you've gotta get 45mm or higher offset.
I had 18x8 44mm offset. This width plus the offset sticks out further than a 7.5" with 40mm offset. And my wheels weren't protruding out the fenders. Instead they tucked inside the fenders. I think most of the people here have seen pics of my car, but here it is again,
This pic clearly shows that the wheels didn't stick out at all.
Anyway, the CP-035s that I'm getting are 16x7.5 with either a 40mm or 42mm offset. And I'm putting 225/45 tires on them. I'll post pics as soon as I get them to prove that they won't protrude out the fenders.

I think it's just the tires i have tho, they have that rubber curb liner thingy which adds a couple mm....

Aight, I was wondering if someone can explain this whole wheel offset, and tire width to me. I know about tuning and everything I'm just not that educated when it comes to wheel and tire numbers. I have plan on getting a new set of Rims and tires as opposed to my stock and I would like to know a little more before I purchase set of 17 Axis Touring Cups, Thanks for help

I had 17x7.5 TE37's w/ a +40 and the rears rubbed bad. They would rub just when accelerating, with 2 people in the car, forget about it. I have the eibach pro-kit by the way and 215/40/17's. The fronts were fine though. I machined 5 mm off all the wheels for $100, $25 per wheel. Volk told me to do this and that small amount will not hurt the integrity of TE37s. They have raised areas around the pad which is what is machined down. The +40s sat perfect w/ the fender though, and looked tight. You could get the +48s and be safe, or I believe you could machine down only the rear 2 wheels to +44 or +45 and be fine. No tire rotating after that though Good luck.
Ok, so how exactly do you roll the fenders? Is it just removing the plastic lining inside the fenders?
ODL: I haven't seen any pics of your car with ur new rims! Where they at? How do you like the wheel/offset combination? I don't want the rims to be in the wheel well too much, want them to stick out more than the stock rims.

OK, I drew up some pics to show the meaning of offset. Basically, it's the distance between the hub surface and the centerline of the rim. As you can see in the pics, the smaller the offset number, the more the wheel is being pushed out, closer to the fender lip (as in the pic with 42mm offset); on the other hand, the bigger the offset number, the more the wheel is being pushed in, closer to the control arm (as in the pic with 50mm offset).

Softie-tush: I had everything mounted last friday, so i've been on them this weekend. No pics yet for i had intended to take some after i lowered (was supposta do it yesterday but things came up). For sure this weekend i'm lowering it tho. I can go snap some pics tomorrow of my dirty ass car (u know...rain sucks) if u really want me to...
But overall, i like. Everyone likes the hyperblack color. The tires seem to line up right behind the fender. When i test fitted the fireballs they seemed a tad wide (esp in the front). The heidfelds i would say is perfect at +48 w/ 7.5" wide on the re730's. Grip and steering response is much improved over stock (even tho i already had a pair of re730's up front on my stock tires). I still need to shave that little triangle off my rear bumper, had that rub when i pushed it on a fwy onramp. But otherwise, i'm luvin it!
