hey guys...i have a question...i don't have a way of raising the whole car so i can't do all four wheels at the same time...i can only raise one side of the car and then the other...would it be ok if i were to do one side and then put the rims back on to do the other?...or do i need to let the brakes completely dry first?...gimme some ideas please...
oh, and one more thing...what'd you guys use for clearcoat?
i did all 4 at the same time lazy people like me are efficient
i used a floor jack to jack up the front, put jack stands under the front jack points, then jack up the rear... it's not the safest way of doing it, but hey, i wasn't going under the car anyway
don't forget to loosen (not remove) your lug nuts before you jack up the car, otherwise the wheels would keep rotating and you'll have a hard time getting them off.
i used the same kinda paint for the clear coat. i used the Plastikote brand (or whatever the heck that's called), $4 a can from PepBoys' paint cage...

That pix of my car was before i had jackstands, so i just borrowed my bro's jack, did one side at a time. Those wood blocks were put there just in case...u know. So yea you can. Just be VERY careful when putting your rims back on...the paint won't be hardened and scratches easily. And my clearcoat is VHT hi temp clearcoat from summitracing.com

thanks o0OO0o and ODL for the help...much appreciated...and i think this should be FAQ'd for future reference...it'll help a lot of people out down the road
and does anyone happen to have some pics of "silver" painted calipers...i want something subtle and not quite as racey as red or yellow...something that'll match my rims more...
well, we did 2 of the 4 today (one side).. we took our time just to make sure everything went ok (took a long time to coverup the car) and then it got dark and started to drizzle so we had to stop. Anyway, it turned out pretty good, I put a little too much clearcoat on the front one which kinda put this weird looking film on certain parts, but you cant really tell unless your looking really close. I took a bunch of pics so ill post them as soon as I can get them loaded on the comp and find some place to host them
it took me 45 mins to do all 4, and that's including jacking up the car, removing the wheels and shaking the paint i didn't worry about doing it "right", cause i knew they'll get scratched sooner or later and no one other than myself would pay attention to the calipers
Hm... I do recognize that color... I know I've seen it somewhere.. oh yeah.. I have it.
I did it the lazy way too.. just masked and sprayed. Took me about 90 minutes total, one wheel at a time. Probably should've gone one side at a time.. but, oh well...
