roll/cut your fenders and you can run just about anything.

18x8 with a 235 tire would be about as wide as you can pratically go with minimal modification, and since there is only one tire I know of made in 235/35/18 (BFG KDW2) you'll probably have to settle for 225/35/18. A more practical option would be 17x8 with 235/40/17. The wheel will need to be about +48 offset.

keep in mind that your steering response will go down the sh**ter with extra wide tires up front but you should get higher maximum grip. Not that you said you would, but I know what's coming next - Please don't put wide wheels and/or tires in the rear and narrower ones up front. 1) it looks stupid on a FWD car and 2) it actually makes the car handle worse by increasing understeer.

225 = width of tire in millimeters
35 = sidewall height (aspect ratio of width)
18 = size of tire in inches

Whenever you look for a plus size tire, use this: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

In fact, bookmark it NOW. Type in the stock size 205/50/16 and then the aftermarket size you want. It will give you difference in sidewall, overall diameter, and % speedometer error @ a typical highway speed.

225/35/18 is nearly identical to stock wheel/tire overall diameter so it is the ideal size for the Prelude (type it in and try it out yourself). It is pretty thin, so some guys squeeze in a 225/40/18 (sidewall is 40% of 225mm instead of 35% so its a little taller). You'll also see 215/35/18 which should only be run if your wheel offset is too low and you have no other choice.

235/35/18 is barely taller than a 225/35/18 which is why I mentioned it. It would look good on an 8" rim and should require only minor fender modification.

With 17's, we're looking at very different sizes to maintain something close to stock diameter. 215/40/17 is slightly smaller and is generally the prefered size. 205/45/17 doesn't add any width so must guys don't run it. 225/45/17 is a very popular size but its NOT good for Preludes (too tall). 235/40/17 needs an 8" rim but depending on the wheel, will fit the Prelude with minimal or no modification.

that's it in a nutshell for tires. For wide wheels (7.5 - 8.0") you need about a +45 to +48 offset respectively. Damn I'm feeling nice today I should have told you to search and learn it on your own like I did
