They're adequate. Decent wearing, pretty quiet, adequate dry grip, excellent in the rain.
A good, inexpensive, comfortable, high performance tire. Nothing to write home about, except for the price. But if that's changing, I won't get them again.
99Pearl - have you ridden on both the Ecsta's & RE730's? What's your opinion on how they compare?

Toyo tires are great. But they're also twice the price of the Ecsta's.
As for the howling, I've never noticed a problem with it. But I don't track or autocross them, and I certainly don't push them to their limits on public roads. So who knows. In my opinion, they can howl all they want in a performance situation - let's you know when you're reaching the limits. But they're quiet when I'm driving normally, which is extremely nice.

yes they do do make noise on corners... but they still grip quite a bit. However I am thinking of getting a set of rota slipstreams and put some azenis on those for when I autox
712's are great for the street but for autox they are HORRIBLE. Granted they are better than some other brands and styles, but for autox or road courses, they will piss you off. I love mine when im on the street, they have great wet traction.

Does anyone know how long the 712's are supposed to last? I've had mine for about 25000 miles.. and in inner edges on all four tires are wearing fast... I bought them at discount tire.. with the warranty.. tried to get them to replace them but the guy gave me some BS about the prelude being a high-performance sports car.. and I can' t expect the tires to last since they're performance tires... He also said the inner tires wore down because of the prelude's independent suspension .. I dunno if any of this is true. Anyone else have this problem?

Is your car lowered? Increased negative camber will wear the insides faster. The independent suspension thing is a load of crap.
But 25,000 miles is what you should expect from these tires. What warranty do you have? If the shop was stupid enough to sell you a 40,000 miles guarantee on those tires, make them honor it. Just read all the fine print before you go in to battle.

712's are pretty good for the price you pay for them. I think they are one of the best bang for the buck tires you can get out there on the market. I had them on my 17' M5's and they ran really smoothly. If you're looking for some good tires, try some Yoko avs.
The 712's are the worst tire that I have ever owned. They lasted about 12K miles before they started to scallop real bad along both inner and outer edges, the were loud, didn't grip for crap, scary as hell in the rain, and all around a POS tire. I would spend a little more and get the Generation 2 RE730's, much better tire, and much improved over the original.
