which tire?

Looking for new tires in the stock size (205/50-16). I just bought some BFGoodrich g-force sport and am VERY unhappy with them. They are noisy and feel like they are square instead of round. They are going back to tirerack as soon as figure out what to buy.

Was looking at the Yokohama S.Drive tires. They are around $87. each and the Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport which are around $102. each.
I have had pretty good luck with Yokohamas in the past (es100, parada spec-2, A520 were very noisy though).

Would rather not go any more expensive than the Bridgestones.

Looking for summer only tires. Something that is pretty quiet, good ride, and sticky. Not to concerned with tire life. Would like to stick with the name brands (no hankook, etc.)

How about the Toyo T1-R's?
I have them now on my G35 and it's very very quiet. I want to try the S.Drives next but they don't have my size. I've also tried the ES100's and those are the most noisy tires in the world!!!
I also had the Goodyear GSD3 Eagle F1's on the maxima and they were pretty good/quiet, just a little softer.

A cheap alternative that I've heard good reviews about are the General Exclaim UHP's.
Good luck Roger!

Tooo bad you're not local..someone is selling the KDW2's for like 200 something.

BAM!!!

Post your Tires and how you rate them.

I haven't posted on that one, but I like my Nittos. Really have to work to break them loose on dry roads. I'm riding on 18"s and I'm lowered so my car rides like a log wagon no matter what tire is on there, but they aren't too noisy.

Name brands but no Hankook? Does that mean no Falken either? Is a "name brand" nothing more than a good-ol-boy tire company like goodyear, michelin, bfgoodrich and bridgestone/firestone to you?

I had the BFgoodrich TA KDW g-force on my car and felt they were adequate enough, but when they lost traction, they really lost it, there was no in between.

Then I put Falken R-615s on and I feel they are worlds apart and a wonderful tire. However, they might not be the best DD tire out there.

There is a tire I've experienced a limited amount of time on (on a Mazda3s) and that was the Hankook Ventus R-2s 212's. Wow! They were a great blend of drivability, long lasting (because I knew the owner had them on for a long time and the tread held up very nicely) and great performance. I found a favorable review on a miata tire forum that sums it up nicely as to what I believe is the tire's best trait...

I bought these at America's Tire Memorial Day weekend. Since then I've put 3000 miles on them. 50% of my driving is on the freeway with the remainder mountain and back roads. These tires are very quite. They do not hunt around on freeway grooves. Turn in is quick (tires currently at 32 psi.) with no squeeling. Lots of grip on twisty roads even when pushed. Good grip in the rain. Will by again!!

And one last selling point... the tire is very attractive. You will definitely get alot of looks if you go out to shows where you park your car (not saying that is the intent of buying a tire, but you know...)

Welcome To Hankook Tire
