Sumitomo HTR Z II Review

Pretty simple:

Want a tire just to kick around town with?
Want a tire to put on to look "new" so when you sell the car it looks like it has some tread on there?
Does your car have traction control?

If you answered yes to all of these, then this tire is probably for you.

I burned through 2 sets of Falken FK452's in the rears in 2 years. That's when rotating inside out due to the extreme camber I have. So this year, I decided to save some money and buy some cheaper tires to just get through the year since I anticipate not goofing around in the car this year.

They seem okay at first due to the falkens being worn down significantly. But the traction isn't there and these tires break pretty easily. I can tell since the normal curves I go around will set off the TC when I want to go faster than normal.

They are cheap and you do get what you pay for.

I ordered 285/30/18's for about $120 each (not bad when the next tire costs $200).

HTR ZII's were snappy and inpredictable when i had them in 225/40/18 and 245/40/18. They're pretty good in the rain. Even on a newly paved road at about 65 mph in heavy rain, I didn't have any problems with hydroplaning or pulling to one side when I hit a puddle..
