A sneak peak:

Rota Torques (Work Emotion CR) 17x8, gunmetal, +48mm w/ 215/40/17 ecsta 711's.

The ride ht gets dropped a little more, and the tires are a tad bit narrow for the rim, but this is my ***** and i love her.

yeah i like em alot, but they're pretty heavy. ~20 lbs, which is inline with typical cast imitation wheel weights for a 17x8.

They're flush with the fender so if i were to dump the car, i'd probably have to roll the fenders. There's no rubbing lock to lock with 215/40's, but geeze, these kumhos are stretched pretty far. I think 225/40/17 would be ideal on this wheel, it's just a question of finding someone who makes a 225/40. I'm guessing 225/45 might have clearance issues (or it may not). The other solution is finding a 215 that runs wide from the factory (like the azenis, though, there are no 215/xx/17 azenis ) and it may be ok. 205/50/15 azenis fit an 8" wheel perfectly so, i guess brand does matter.

as far as how the tires perform on an 8" rim, i can't really tell since the 711's suck anyway. Turn in is a tad bit vague, as it seems the car will swim a little right after a quick input, but i'm also guessing that these tires need a couple heat cycles in em to perform to their (low) potential.
