The question is... should you? Why is it there to begin with?

I'd be more worried about seeing wtf is wrong with your car - than modifying things you shouldn't have to in the first place.

its a spot to use to pop the knuckle off of the rear UCA....I believe

Dude you have bent something bad if you are really rubbing that spot, I ran much more wheel/tire on the inside of my car and never touched that spot. Are you certain the wheel is rubbing there? It would contact when the wheel is attached regardless of suspension load if so. i.e. with the car in the air, attach the wheel, and see if it is really rubbing there.

how much rear camber do you have?

are you sure that the wheel was on the hub completely flat?

are you slammed low? my car has been driven shortly with 17x8 235/40/17 front, rear, AND is 4ws... and is fine. +48 offset if i remember correctly, but im not sure anymore about hte offset.
