It was when I had 215/45/17s. It rubbed on inner and outer (from body roll).

Now with 215/40/17s on bumps it rubs inner

That's what I ordered a while back, and one of them is a replacement wheel (2 weeks old) and I specified 40mm. Also on the wheel it says 40.

weird. you really shouldn't be rubbing the inside with a +40 offset. especially on stock heighth. i am very confused by your thread.

Is it only rubbing on one side? I've never heard of a 17x7 40mm offset rubbing on the inside. The stock rims have a higher offset which push them closer in. With the 40mm offset it should push the rim further away from the control arm. I'm thinking there's bent or damaged causing you to rub.

Has your car ever been in a huge accident that might have altered the geometry of your suspension?

Thats the only thing I can think of that's causing you to be rubbing. Cause this is the first time I've ever heard of rubbing on the side with your rim and offset. I'd get it checked out.
