opinions on tires

hey guys so its time for me to get new tires and it will be the first time i replace them since I have bought my car, I was wondering what tires are recommended for ludes, I want all season ultra high performance grade and something with good treadlife, i have been looking on tire rack and other sites and so many tires have all kinds of mixed reviews, i was thinking of the toyo proxes 4, bfg g-force sport, yokohama s. drive, goodyear eagle gt.

Any opinions would be great, thanks guys

Ha...that is not going to happen dude. It is one or the other. An ultra high performance tire is typically very soft, meaning it has a short tread life and usually cannot be used when it's cold. An all season tire is typically made of a harder compound, making it possible to use in the winter and extending its tread life at the expense of performance.

Anyway, read this for specific tire reviews and just search next time:

Post your Tires and how you rate them.

they don't last very long and those are the "OLD" model...the 912 replaced them.

Again, its not going to happen. If you want a "good handling" tire, you need a soft tread compound. If you want a long tread life, you need a hard tread compound. You will not find both in the same tire. Either you want a high performance tire, or an all season tire. You will have to compromise if you only want to run one set of tires year round.

I myself have Nitto 555's for summer driving and they are awesome and have tons of grip, but they have a low tread life and I wouldn't even think of using them in the winter. For the winter I have a set of stock wheels with all season tires on them.

As explained earlier tread life and handling are on 2 opposite ends of the scale. The better handling you get the worse the tread life. The longer tread life the worse the handling is. I suppose you could get something in the middle but then that wouldn't "good" it would be average. What's your budget? How much life do you expect out of the tires? What do you expect in terms of handling out of them are you just going to be daily driving? Do you need it for winter/rain/snow? Do you want tires you that can handle spirited driving?
