Nail in my tire!!! Can it be fixed?

AHHHH! I took my wheels off today because of the winter weather in PA and found a nail in my back right tire. Its not in the sidewall, but about a half inch from the inside of the tire. MY question is can this be fixed? I have 215/35/18 tires, and it seems it would be pushing it getting a plug put in. Has anyone had their tires pluged before? Also, where would I go to have it done. I really dont want to spend money on a new tire these only have 2500 on them!!

Hey Dave,

I've got the same problem too I just found a nail in one of my snow tires. I don't know if it's a blowout risk - I don't think so - but I'm keeping an eye on the pressure just in case. I would check that tire every day if you're doing a lot of driving.

Wow...sorry to hear about that Simon. I'm happy that I dont have to drive on it. In my case i think it would be a little higher risk of blow out than yours. About getting it patched...will that last the life of my tire? Or will I have to worry about it coming out in time too?

plugs

Yeah you can plug tires it is no big deal I have had a bunch over the years even one on my motorcycle one time

Get a plug that is put in the tire from the inside...it's a wide patch with a nipple that goes through the hole they glue the whole thing down and pull it through... cost about 6 bucks though the last one i had done they charged me 4
