Modifiying 18" Rim Offset

So I have a set of 18 x 7.5 rims with a 42mm offset. I'm currently running on 215/40/18's and would like to go up to 225/35/18's. My car is lowered I think about 1.25" and I have a camber kit as well . . . and I was reading a few posts about modifying the offset and had a few questions.

Has anyone modified the offset on here? Cost to do?
Are there any negative effects to doing this?
Will I still rub with 225's even if I modify the offset?

Hope I can get some help from you guys. Thanks!

1. Honestly, I would get spacers if you want to decrease your offset and if you wanted to increase, I would just buy correct rims for safety.

I thought you could fit 225/35/18's without rubbing?

I had smaller rims but I didn't rub with 225/45/16 on 16x7 rims 40 et.

csr,

I'm curious, what makes you want to move from the 215 40's to the 225 35's? I'm looking at putting together a combo and had the 215/40/18 in mind so your input would help? Are you rubbing with that setup due to the drop?
