Looking to protect the rim without big side profile

.. pretty self explainatory.

I will be running 18x7.5 wheels and I want to run a tire that will reasonably protect the wheel should a little pot hole or piece of crappy road give me a bump.

I also don't want to have a huge sidewall or any trouble's lowering.

What size would you guys recommend?

A good friend of mine said to take a 205/45/18 or a 205/40/18 and stretch it.

I'm not worried about curb rash - I stay away. I just don't want to bend or otherwise damage the wheels.

215/40-18

You might rub but it will protect your rim. Thats what rob(everythinzen) is running. You will have to shave the rear tab, not a big deal tho.
