hankook/falken, etc....

does anyone have any experience with these not so popular brand tires? most places i look at rims have these brands. i see they are a lot cheaper than name brands. i am looking for a 215/35/18, 215/40/18 or 225/35/18, these brands seem to be around 100-110 range as everything else is 160 and up. just wondering if anyone has been useing these. pretty much interested in the following:
falken
nitto
toyo
hankook
avon
sumitomo

looking for a performance summer only tire, that is QUIET

don't have time to check size availability, but the Falken ST-115 is a quieter tire. As is the Toyo T1R but it tends to run about $160 in 18" sizes. Not sure about noise levels on the Hankook K104 but its a good-performaing street tire at a very cheap price.

I had the Hankook Ventus K104's before on my accord in 225/35/18 and I have to say, they were pretty quiet and performed well. I've had Yokohama Parada Spec I then II (both were loud...Spec I is quieter and better IMO). Then moved on to Goodyear F1 GS-D3s...one of the most comfortable tires I've ever driven...VERY soft compound, super quiet (you forget you're on 18's), only thing is because of the soft compound, wears a bit fast.

After the Goodyears, I went with Hankook Ventus K104s...save some money and wanted to see if I could get 85% of the performance for 60% of the price. And I have to say, it's a great value. The Hankooks K104s definitely are a harder compound and you can hear them, but that's expected with 18's.

I haven't tired Falken, but my friends who've had them have had very mixed experiences with them...either really good, or crappy to the point of never buying Falken again.

I'd recommend the Hankook Ventus K104s anyday...great tire, like XdisengageX said.

I have Falken FK-451's and they are really quiet in addition to having superb grip in wet and dry.

I highlty recommend it.
