Gold painted RSX rims on my ppw lude

I bet everyone is clicking this thread thinking that i'm going to have pictures of my gold painted rsx rims on the lude. sorry to disappoint, this thread is more of an opinion thread...
My lude is premium pearl white. I really want to paint my rsx wheels a nice gold color. I'm talking like, subaru wrx wheel gold, a nice bright brushed gold. I found one picture of a black prelude with gold wheels and it looked awesome! What kind of paint do you use for this and where can i find a gold color paint like i'm looking for?

Also, kinda off subject a little... my ppw lude has stock exterior with a VIS carbon fiber hood. I'm thinking of either trading someone my cf hood for a stock ppw hood and going with the gold rsx rims or keeping the cf hood and painting the rsx rims gun metal. Which would you guys go with, what do you think would look better?

If you have the new RSX rims, I wouldn't mind painting them in gold, but the older ones should stay silver IMO.

hmm i would actually think the opposite. the 05 type s wheels are f'n amazing and i wouldn't touch those things, but the older ones are what i have and that's what i'm thinking of painting.

I agree with what you said too - the new OEM rims look fantastic. I've seen the look of the older RSX rims painted on 5th gens - in particular bronze ones on a black car, and they really don't look that great. I don't know if it was the color choice, but it just sreamed tackiness.

hard to give an opinion without Photoshopped and/or actual pics, but . . .

I'm not a big fan of the older RSX wheels on the Prelude in general - don't quite seem to fit the body lines for some reason. I think the angles are too sharp on the RSX wheels - notice how the OEM Prelude 5-spoke wheels (type SH) have rounded, shorter spokes which suit the car really well. Even the more popular aftermarket wheels like the Volk TE37 or any of the SSRs use slightly rounder, softer lines.

i found this picture on po. i hope this person doesn't mind me using it. i think this is an awesome gold color. this is exactly what i'm looking for color wise...

what does anyone think about me keeping the carbon fiber hood, painting my base trim sh style and painting the rsx wheels a dark gun metal color? any comments/opinions on that setup? thanks for giving me some feedback guys...

Go gunmetal instead of gold. Gold on black usually looks good, but the brightness of the color accentuates the sharp lines of the spokes. Painting the sides SH-style always looks good.

by the way, you go to PSU? graduated from there a few years ago. Maryland sucks, even compared to State College . . . I wanna go back

I was about to post more pictures of that car after seeing it on HT. If the owner wants the pictures taken down, I'd be happy to do so.

After seeing it in person, it doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. If you're planning on adding any type of ground effects, then I'm not so sure if they'd look as good anymore.

wow i really like those on black, but i think i might stay with my original plan and go gunmetal with sh skirts and rear. anyone know of anyone that painted their rsx rims gunmetal, i'd like to see that.

Edit: XdisengageX, yea i do go to psu, i'm a junior in civil engineering, it's definitely a good time

It looks alright. It probably would look best on a Black Prelude anyways

What about bronze, White on bronze always looks sweet, and I'm kinda partial to bronze

hmm, yea, i'm still not sure what i'm gonna do about that... i have bigger issues on my hands now, like possibley needing a new motor.

your ride looks mighty nice though, i will say that. the rims look good for sure.
