fitment and rim repair questions

if i resurface a rim, will it damage the structural integrity of the rim? i dont want to ride on unsafe rims

also, is 17" x 8.0" 45mm offset 5x114.3 pattern too wide? saw an add for rim that size and the owner had it on his prelude and he said it didnt rub even at the lowest koni/h&r combo but i dont quite believe him. 8" +45 offset just seems like trouble to me. the tires are 215/40ZR17 Pirelli P7000

thanks!

not worth it and never reserface a rim. rims hold to much responsiblity on the car never compromise on them.

215.40.17 tire isnt wide enough for a 8 inch wheel. 225 are better.
