Expert opinion needed!

I'll be ordering up some new wheels this weekend,so just looking for your opinions! Not going big budget,so here are my options!
(Oh yeah,I have Tein SuperStreets on the way,so are you guys having difficulties with 17s and the drop with this suspension?I'm still undecided on 16s or 17s so what do you guys think?)

Onto this

Thanks guys!!

Nah, I think a 17 would be okay!

Then again, 16's would be good too....

it depends on the complete specs of the wheel whether or not you'll run into complications, not just if theyre 16 or 17 in. do you know what width/offset these wheels come in?

If you're planning to keep the stock sides/rear/type s front, I would go with 16"

This is the only spec I can find for the Sub-Zeros
16X7 5X114.3 ET40,I dont know what the et 40 means though!!

ET40 could be a 40mm offset, but that is just a guess. If you have potholes or non smooth roads the 16s will be a much nicer ride. Plus cheaper tires, more wheel protection, etc

If I had to pick, this one, but I'd look for +45mm offset

that et40 is the offset, the offset of a wheel is probably the most important spec to look at

usually with 5th gens, its good to get an offset between 42-50 depending on the wheel's width etc...

personally i wouldnt get a wheel that has a 40 offset, you may hav rubbing issues.

in the end, do ur research and make sure what you buy will fit correctly

I'm riding on 17x7 rims with a 42 offset. My car is lowered about 1 inch and it rubs when there's more than 2 people in the car as well as in hard cornerings. If you want to just go for looks, get the 17x7 with either a 45 or 48 mm offset so you don't rub.

Yeah I think the grare only 40 offset,so what does this mean?Rubbing or scrapping?

The main supplier doesnt have subzeros in stock and says he wouldnt have tham until May

He has Rota Torques in stock in 17,they arent so bad, offset of 45!
RotaRims.ie

But it was the grid or sub zero I wanted,so is it a big no no with 40 offset?!

with a 40 offset, the outer edge of ur wheel/tire will be extremely close to your outer fender. turning, lil bumps etc will cause ur tire to rub on your fender.

id go with those torques over anything else youve listed as far as specs are concerned

Can someone please explain offset in detail? Ive also been trying to pick a good tire/rim size. I want to fill out my wheel wells and possibly get a "wider" tire for better traction/stability in uneven pavements. I don't want any rubbing in any situation but still want to go a little wider diameter and wider tire/rim setup. What is the ideal setup for me? Comments are much appreciated!

there's 5 stickies at the top of this forum, im sure you can find all the info ur lookin for

ideal setup to fill ur wheel wells would be 17x7.5 with an offset somewhere between 46-50, the higher the better. 215/40 tires imo.

again, check out the stickies

The stickies must have changed... nothing wheel size related...

So if I went with 17x7.5 wheels, I would be increasing wheel diameter from 16" (stock i think) to 17" ?

The 7.5" is the width of tire i assume. What is the stock tire width? 6"?

Also, what about weight of larger tires/rims? Will a larger tire/rim setup always add to curb weight? Are there lightweight rims?

7.5 would be the width of the wheel, the 215 in 215/40 would be your tire width. overall, with a lower profile tire than stock, a 17in wheel/tire will be close to the overall diameter of stock

stock wheels are 16x6.5, 205/50 tires

there are absolutely lightweight wheels, they tend to be more expensive.

if youre looking for super lightweight, go with a forged wheel....some cast wheels can be fairly light too.

there are almost endless possibilities, every wheel is different....do you have a price range?

If I really like the rims and tires, I would spend around 800 - 1000... not sure if i want to afford lightweight stuff if its gona be ridiculous $$$. I cant see spending too much on a car thats only worth $4K or so, ya know?

you sound like a good candidate for rotas

you can get prob any set of rotas and a good set of tires for ~$1000

Hey guys!

I ordered my wheels yesterday so thanks to everyone for your input!

I went down to the shop and had a look at all that was available(A lot of the wheel/colour/size combos arent available over here),so after a lot of pondering and looking at this thread

Requesting Pictures: Gold Wheels

and these cars

I finally decided on these

I got them in 17inch,offset of 45,hopefully they will look sweet when I get my Tein Super Streets in too!

I should have them at the weekend, have to get rubber for them at the weekend, probably 215/40 17

I'll get pics up when I do!
