i was planning on getting 17x7 wheels with 215/40/17 kumhos. the guy at the shop told me that the "ideal" size for a 5g prelude (on 17's) would be 215/45/17- knowing that i have a 2.5 drop.

why would 45 be better than 40's? i would think a lower profile would be better and stay closer to the overall stock diameter. 45 just seems too big on 17's.

i don't know if it would be better to go with 40's or just take his advice- it is a reputable shop.
any help would be appreciated. the wheels i want (tenzo- r psychos) are out of stock for about 4 weeks so i time to research and make a decision. thanks.

most people go w/ 215/40/17. That tire size is just a bit smaller than stock. You can find how much tires can throw off your speedometer w/ this site

45 profile tires offers more protection for the rim when you hit potholes, etc.
