Cooper CS4 all seasons in Maine

New member to this forum. 1st post. Go easy on me (for now)....

I just put on a set of Cooper CS4's at the recommendation of my tire dealer. They are on a 2001 Prelude. I will update this post in a few weeks after I have run them through some winter weather and provide feedback on their handling. Sooner if someone replies and reminds me to. I opted for these rather than a seperate set of snows.

I drive from southern Maine on the coast, to 30 miles west of Boston MA daily for work (62 miles each direction). I try and avoid going to work when the weather is bad, but sometimes get caught in it by surprise or leave work too late to avoid it.

I bought the car (in great shape) with 182,000 miles on it for $4,500. Talked to the original owner after purchasing it from a seller on ebay who was just flipping it. Originaly it had BF Goodrich Traction TAs on it. I was not impressed with the groove depth of these tires (I replaced one on it 7000 miles ago that had a gouge, and it's already low tread). Car now has 189,000 miles.

I have a steep driveway that faces north and is normally snow/ice covered due to lack of sun and packed snow from use prior to shoveling. That is the case today after this weekend's storm. So will be curious to see how I get up the drive tonight. Was unable to with the BFGoodrichs in worn condition.

I wouldn't have high hopes for all season tires in Maine snow. We had an inch of snow and slush and I was less than thrilled with the performance of my Falken 912's. Any type of incline I was praying for traction. I would really think about getting a set of snow tires if you get hit hard with snow.

Well - here we are about 6,000 miles and 4 months later. I think the tires were fine. I don't drive to work when the weather is crap, and in the few instances where it was sloppy on the way home I felt secure.

On one night when I got home and there was 6" of snow on my steep driveway I was unable to get up. But that was a rarity. My wife's civic w/ snow tires did not have any better luck.

We just went through periods of a **** load of record breaking rain. The car handled these down pours on the high way very well. I had a few instances where driving in the left lane, and the water was backing up on to the highway. No hydro-planning, but definitely felt the left tire grab the water as I drove by the puddling area.

Very pleased w/ noise & dry weather handling.
Would buy again.
