Can someone explain to me...

I'm still a bit confused on what offset is. Can someone explain it or direct me to website that can explain it?

Also, how do you know which rim brands are good brands? It seems like everyone has something to say about every type of rim out there; this one bends, these aren't good, etc. Is there a place that reviews rims and tests for faults or weaknesses? Or is it more just 'trial and error'?

stock has a +55 offset, let say you are getting a +45 rim, the negative offset will make the wheel stick out more.

as for what brand, if your only concern is strength, one thing to notice is how they made the wheel, forged is stronger and it's usually much more expensive than cast wheel. if you are just asking for some name brands, look at the price and what other people are drooling on.
