Well the best autoX Tire would be an R-compound like a Hoosier A3S03 or Kumho Victoracer V700 in like a 225/50/15 on some 15x7.5" wheel. Both are street-legal tires, but they would not last more than 3-4000mi on the street. And they would blow in rain.
If you want street tires, go with either Falken Azenis, BF Goodrich KDs, or Bridgstone PP S-03s in 15" or 16" with the widest tire and wheel that will fit your car and is legal fror your class.

I'm partial to them, and *many* of the top national-level drivers place on Azenis. Not to say the other above mentioned tires aren'y good, but Azenis are good AND cheap.
