Any one heard of Hankook Ventus

Hey,
I've decided on the 17" ADR - GT Sport wheel. Silver, cuz my car is silver, and they said 42mm offset wouldn't rub on a 215/40/17 tire.

Now through wheelmax for $1060 i can get either the kumho's or these other tires called Hankook. The model is Ventus H405. The salesman said they are a little better of a tire than the Kumho, but I have never heard of them. They look a little better.

I guess my question is, are these Hankook Ventus H405's a good enough tire, or should i spend like an extra $200+ for like the Yokahoma Parada, or Bridgestone SO3's?????

Thanks

Hankook was just introduced to me during last year autocrossing. They are new company who has been trying to sell to the autocross crowd, I'm don't have any experience with the tree, nor do I know anyone who has.

Do they offer a larger offset? +42mm is borderline for rubbing if you are/or decide to lower the car. What is the width of the wheel? And for what it is worth, I would trust the guy trying to sell me something because he just wants your money (for the most part). Is he going to refund your money if they rub? I doubt that, why not take the advise of the people who have first hand experience with the actual car and have no reason to tell you different?

Here is a picture of the tire, if you haven't seen it.

well...i personally WOULD NOT get those models because they are H-RATED...which means they have a WORSE speed rating
than the stock tires which are V-RATED...

so do NOT get these...not because of the brand...but speed rating.

what about the Kumho 711. Would those be good to get for the same price. Remember these tires will be drivin every day, but i can put old wheels/tires back on for winter. Also the wheels are 7" wide, so is 42mm offset not good enough if im going to lower it???

I have have people tell me they liked the Kumho 711's. And again, +42 offset is borderline to rub. I wouldn't chance it. I would look elsewhere.

ok, so i dont know much about offset. Do I need a higher offset, like 48mm. Or do I need a lower offset, like 40mm. I do plan on lowering it, so I should buy a wheel that will not rub.
Enlighten me about this offset.

u need a higher offset like 48mm...

I would recommend a 45mm...i personally have 42mm...

and it rubs in the front when making U turns...i have a camber kit
also...so it makes it worse...

larger... +45 to +48 would be best with a 7" wide wheel...

look here for +48 offset

I have been looking for rims for my fifth gen and these are one of the rims I have been considering. I know I have seen a +48 offset here. Check that page out it should be there. I believe it is the 4th rim down on that page. There is a +40 and a +48. Good luck and I hope this helps. Let me know what you find out.
