205/55/16?

Hello, need a new set of tires this summer when i register the lude (5th gen SS)

i have checked Canadian tire. Costco, walmart all the normal retailers, prices for a 205/50/16 are over 150+/tire, . looking at around $800 if not more for 4 tire with install/balance

a 205/55/16 is much cheaper. and only a 5mm higher sidewalls

Anyone running this size tire?

just got a quote from Canadian tire,

a generic tire will be i think 140, a BFG normal tire is 170.

the BF POTENZA IS $320!!!! EACH!!!! ouch!

i was surprised cause thats what these care came with.

im thinking of going to the states to get some tires

The best tires I have used were fuzion zri's....

They are really good and dont cost as much as other tires.

i read some review on the fuzion ZR and VR, some customers loved them, others had lots of issues with buldging after a few thousand km,

im mostly interested in tread life as well, this will be a daily driver, not that much racing or anything ( its a SS)

i will also have a seperate set of winter tires later on

The problem with tire reviews is that they are very inconsistant.

There aren't that many ppl that change tires often and of course the times you do change them, you are normally running on near bald tires. So obviously its hard to gauge how good they really are.

thats true

i am able to get a kumho tires for fairly cheap localy around $100, but even the person over teh counter said they do wear out faster.

my choice is going to be between the Bridgestone Potenza RE760

or Bridgestone Potenza G009, i would prefer these, the tire wear rating on these is much better then on the RE 760's

the RE760 would be around 320-340 (the previous version RE750 that the RE760 replaced are rated that)

the G009 are i think 460 or 420.

in terms of actual milage rating, not sure.

i run that size on my winter tires on oem rims. i would rather have the 50 series. i got the winter tires cheap so that is why i am running that size. i am lowered and yes it rubs on the front when you turn hard to the right or left. i think they look ugly as well but they do give me a little more protection in the winter. that said, i can't wait to get my summer rims/tires on soon.
