17x8 Rota Slipstreams & 245/35/17 Falken FK451's

UPDATE!!!! PICS ARE UP!!!
================================================== =====
UPDATE! Tires are now on the car. Pics will be up within a couple of days.
================================================== =====
Ok... so I've ordered a set of 17x8 Slipstreams hoping to mount some 245/35/17s on them. I'll keep you guys updated on this. They should arrive in about a day or two. They will require some modification as the hub bores do no match (too small).

I will take lots of pictures to show clearance on the wheels themselves. After I get them machined, I will have the tires mounted and my fenders rolled. Lots of pictures will be in order so please stay tuned. I think this is something that a lot of people will be very interested in seeing.

........

thats a HUGE wheel.. Are you concerned with the weight/handling/braking issues that go along with that?

weight...
Shouldn't be too much heavier than my 16x7 Grids and Azenis setup. Azenis are really heavy so I'm not too worried about it. I'm just glad my gearing doesn't change. 245/35/17 = 215/45/16 as far as overall diameter is concerned. And it's still better gearing than stock 205/50/16 size.

handling...
245's?????? I'm sure my handling will improve.

braking...
I use Carbotech Panther Plus pads. I already have a hard enough time braking without locking up my tires. I'm sure I'll have plenty of braking power to support the added grip.

BTW... this will for the most part be for Autox use. I will probably ride on these wheels and tires for the first few days before and after an event.

Jeremy...hows it going? I thought that the '05 STI's had our same bore/bolt pattern??? and that Rota had plans to make Slips in that size for the STI's. Keep us updated on fitment because I'm also seriously considering this size. Heck, I almost bought the 451's in 235/35/17 but decided it was just too damn low. 245's will look so mean...and stick!!! Good luck bro

What the eff... I thought Rota only made Skipstreams up to 16inch. Since when did they make a 17?

So, the 17'' subzeroes are 7.5 wide, right? And these 17'' slipstreams are 8 wide? Hmmm...

Yes, tell us how they fit with lowering... very interested.

they make the 17's for STi's. if you get them you have to bore out the hub to match the prelude. i think you have to shave off 8mm O.D. to make it fit right.

Can you take a pic from the inside? Trying to see how much space there is between the hub mounting surface from the spokes?

I weighed them on two scales... one said 19 and the other said 16. I believe they're supposed to weigh about 18lbs though. They're not too heavy. My stock SH rims are definitely a little heavier.

I'll try to get that pic for you. When I get the wheels machined, I'll get pictures of the mounting of the actual wheel on the car itself so you can all see the clearance.
