17X7.5 +40mm on a 5gen??

Some people say it will fit others say it wont.... I will probably use them with Goodyear's G Force tires... 215/40/17. Just want to get a better feel for what will happen If i buy these wheels... I know I will probably have to shave the tab on the rear, but will they rub anywhere else??

I do plan to drop the car about 1.5" with GC coilovers and kyb agx shocks.

I've also heard about machining the wheels offset. How much can you machine and still maintain the integrity of the wheel?

This is the wheel I want to get BTW:

Can't remember his screenname but somebody with a green 5th gen had 5Zigen wheels that were 17x7.5 +40 and ran 215/40/17 tires. IIRC the tires were Goodyear GSD3 which run somewhat narrow and he still had to raise the car. You won't be able to drop a full 1.5" without rolling the fenders. That is, if you don't want the tires to rub at all.

Those don't look like super expensive wheels so by the time you pay a machine shop to take 5-8mm off each wheel, you might as well have chosen a wheel that comes in the correct offset for the Prelude (17x7.5 +48). Not worth having it machined in my opinion. Either set the GC's closer to stock height or choose different wheels.

With the width of the wheel and with that offset, there's a good chance you'll rub too at a 1.5" drop.
