Why was there tape on the headlight i can't seems to understand what purpose that is for? please expalin i'm a noob at this. My friend have an M3 and telling me to go with him on these kinda thing, i know is fun but the price are no joke 295 a weeekend, and tire, clutch and more to it lol
i remember seeing old school pics where people just did an X across their headlights
now, it seems as though people just cover up the entire thing -- which works better in my opinion
i also remember seeing cars with the old circular headlights with tiny grills
does that surve as the same function?
seeing the pics of your tires reminds me of my boss where he changes his brakes pads everytime he goes to the track. (he races a 911....Preludes are better HA!!)
these are to prevent rock chips, when racing they still put a tape "X" across to prevent littering the track with glass if a headlight were to shatter.
All you bishes that made excuses have no excuse for not going
This track day cost me $275 2-week old tires
$100 for the event itself
$200 new tires to replace the 2-week old tires
$100 in other costs (valve adjustment, oil change, brake bleeding etc.)
Of course the tire issue wasn't expected, but I still had fun despite the massive waste of $475.
Hell, Oinkus went with stock tires, and he still had fun.
NO EXCUSES BISHES
GO NEXT TIME

tire wear = major lose. this is my hesitation about going with you guys...
i've been to about 10 track days and i've never chunked my tires quite like that.
even my crappy RE92's didn't do so badly at streets. it's mainly a function of how new the tires are, not necessarily the activity itself.
usually my tires will have worms on the rears, and accelerated wear on the fronts, but it's not that bad.
Because of the nature of track days, you can run as much or as little as you want. In the 20-30 minute run groups, you can run for 10, rest for 5, and finish it up. And you can usually tell when things are about to go south on the car (pad fade, fluid fade, tire greaziness) and can cool out in the paddock.
I highly suggest going to one of these things. It's almost life altering. Taking offramps at high speed no longer seems that exciting, hitting the rev limiter in 3rd (or 4th at big willow) without having to worry about cops is a liberating feeling.
the ONE thing you have to worry about is going off, which can be messy but isn't the end of the world.
Yea tire wear wasn't even an issue to me until it happened, as long as your tires aren't brand new, no need to worry so much about tire wear.
Sandiegan, you're already one step ahead since you don't need to heel-toe, SS boy

The first time I went off was my very first lap on the track during my first event. I knew it was going to happen after I understeered most of the turn, I saw it coming, so I straightened out rather than trying to pull myself through it. There was no way I would've made it.
The second time I went off I only put two wheels off and it was very minor, again, you can usually tell when it's going to happen, and can prepare for it.

i've been off a couple of times, but it was pretty minor both times. It's always that damn left hander coming out of the chicane at streets that'll get me or almost get me.
It's not so much damage that sucks (though it can. WSIR needs to do some serious rock clearing), but all of the dust that'll get into the car. I remember when NammyBoy went off, it wasn't so pretty

I went off on turn 2 the first time going clockwise.
Oinkus went off the same place, very common place to go off.
I love the chicane, that's my best section on the track. I'll usually be flooring it over the crest into the chicane (but sometimes i chicken out and lift ever so slightly), then braking between the first and second burm, and gasing it over the left burm as i make the slight left. I'll usually catch up (or pull away) from those AWD bastards in the chicane
The second time I went off was when I tried to overdo the chicane, trying to get a 350z off my ass, I fishtailed and put two wheels off on the sharp left. The next lap around the 350z spun out on that left
And yes, damn those rocks. You see all those other courses from other states with nice green GRASS. And a lot of time those bastards don't bother cleaning the rocks off the track after someone goes off
