I just did this to my bumper lights, and they look damn good. Sanded them down, got the lettering off, then polished them up, painted, and cleared. Matches the black paint almost. Also painted the surrounding plastic trim in NBP.
So now I'm wondering if I should do this to the tails. The bottom is cleared out already. Would this be too much black? Should I do the front lenses, too?
i dont like the look of tinted tail lights personally
and i think the stock cleared tails on black look real real good they way they are, stands out just enough, and looks clean
here are some pictures that i have gathered through the net
i'm not sure who owns these preludes, but i do know a few of them are members off this board.
a few of them are black ludes - so that should help you out a lot.
there are some sprays you can buy that are design for tail lights and can be peeled off.
unfortunately, that means it can easily be scratch off if you're trying to put anything in or out of your trunk
in addition, the spray isn't very smooth, so you loose the glossy look on the tail lights.
hobby stores have transparent smoke tail light paint for model making
those work well, but it's a very light smoke effect. you have to use almost an entire can of paint.
i have never smoked my prelude lights, but i did to my old accord.
i used regular tinting paper for windows because it gave a clean smooth glossy look to the tail lights.
just like natcc said.. you can buy them at the hobby store.. its a small spray can...i bought one and sprayed my whole tail light to give a lil slightly dark effect..came out nice too.
mine are done, bought the car like it. mine is starting to peel. I like it when it isnt really dark. I like these
