I'm satisfied, for now. 2005 RSX-S.. not tooooo terribly bad, even if it's an integra or as Irene put it, "a glorified civic".
I knooow, I know. I need a tripod for night pix. Just wanted a few stock pictures before any mods and I just so happened to have my camera with me those nights.
So, there she is. Stock as can be. So far the plans include: tint, i/h/e, wheels/tires & suspension and a few misc. cosmetic things (mugen front lip & mirror cover). Nothing special, as of now
I'm actually considering painting them and keeping them as winter wheels. We just painted the ugly hand me down's that came with my third gen. so I can take my bronze slips off and use the old ones as winter wheels. They turned out pretty nicely.
I like the color as well. It makes your accent colors pretty limited and I was torn between black or gunmetal... sooooo I guess we'll see whatever looks best
that looks BOM... <~(paint code, haha)
my buddy had the same exact car, and it got jacked and never seen again...so please do make sure you invest in good security, there just as easy as a integra or civic to steal like back in the day..
As a current owner of a 2005 RSX Type S aka Glorified Civic Coupe with Crappy Suspension. I would like to say. Good luck with that thing. That car is the most overrated Honda/Acura ever made. From day one I had nothing but problems with the suspesion. Had the front struts replaced 3 times and still have the same problem. I just gave up. First thing you should do is install a proper suspension on that thing. I hate mines with a passion. So much so that if one day it gets stolen or totalled I'll be the happiest man on earth. Just looking at it makes me wanna kick a door or something.
btw- these cars are not easy to steal and are not popular with the thieves so you have nothing to worry about. I've parked my cars in bad neighborhoods....hell I party every weekend in Newark, NJ and never any problems.
Yes, I do know the paint code is BOM. I actually researched the car BEFORE I bought it. I know all about what people we're saying was "shock knock" and I know the dealer is supposed to replace the broken struts FOR FREE. I printed the parts list. I also read about the 03-04 having tranny issues. Hopefully the 05's don't... I haven't read about anyone saying they had grinding issues yet.
A lot of non-rsx owners have said "oh someone is going to steal your car! Its so easy!" it doesn't look THAT easy, no different than my lude, visually... I'm sure if someone wants it that bad they'll take it I was more worried about someone stealing my wheels since everyone seems to love/want them.
As for mods, suspension is definitely important to me. I miss the feel of the lude All of my tech guys and mechanic friends are lude haters so they adore the rsx in comparison. They say it has much more potential and is much easier to mod/work on. I still would take the lude over the rsx ANY DAY. I'm just comfortable with it I suppose.
I'll keep everyone updated with the progress! Thanks again for the support and input!
Yea all of them 02-06 have that minor grind issue on 2nd or 3rd gear.. Mine was okay you'll get the feel of it after awhile.. It just really depends on how the first owner took care of it.. I heard if u change tranny fluid first 3000 miles it'll eliminate that problem.. I'm not sure if that works 100% but yea.. I have an 04 and my 3rd gear on regular driving is really notchy.. but about 4k+ rpm it's smooth..
I heard the suspension on the regular type S's aren't all that.. I had an A-Spec suspension which is that factory sports suspension w/ an inch drop option along with the whole lip kit and wing and those 10spoke 17" rims..
My suspension is really nice and stiff great handling.. But yea my car's totalled now.. lol it lost control on highway when i avoided something.. (some guy infront of me avoided something last min so I had less time to react I was 3 cars behind)..
I hope you like your type S.. It's a quick car and Stock VS Stock it will walk a prelude ANYDAY.. I walked those new 06-07 Si's too about 2 cars.. Shoot I even beat my friend's lude that had intake, exhaust, stage 1 clutch, and lightened flywheel no problem and I have no mods whatsoever to my TypeS.. I also ran an SS camaro from like 15mph roll and I hung with him for a while and I do mean I was from 1st gear all the way to 5th, he was only 2 cars away from me when we slowed down.. Anyway he was still pulling a LITTLE bit slowly but imagine that 4cylinder VS 8cylinder and an SS camaro too.. He was surprised howmuch I held up on him that he gave me the peace sign =D hehehe
Ya'll don't get me wrong i still like preludes but i'm just telling the truth.. K20's have so much potential whether you're going all motor or even when going turbo leaving the engine STOCK.. Some guy had 300whp all motor on his Type S and Many have gone 400+ whp on stock engine with a good turbo kit and surprisingly in rsx forums there has been no report of a stock engine going out YET so I'm very surprised about that.. so GL with your Type S.. I miss mine =( so much..
Once type S sinks in on you and you've gathered all the knowledge to that car and how much u can do to it I don't think you'd consider looking back to a lude EASILY.. Like I said I still like preludes it's just that type S's IMO are the best bang for the buck in 4cylinder cars and it has GREAT potential for your future plans.

Thanks, it's not that I despise my car. I did buy it afterall. I was just comfortable in my lude. I was more than content with every aspect of it. Plus, I felt comfortable working on it/with it because I knew exactly what I wanted and how to get it to that point. With the RSX-S I feel like a complete no0b and I know what I like but I don't know nearly as much as I did with the lude. I've been browsing around and it does have a lot of potential and it is a strong car.... it's just not the lude!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The new Si's aren't really all that. I beat one in my 4g h23. At 0-100 and 60-120, I had about a car on him. I thought it was an Accord at first, but after the last race, I got a good look at the wheels when we stopped at the next light. Completely turned me off of them. The DC5, on the other hand, is pretty quick. I fell in love when I first test drove one, but went off on other cars. I've started eying them again, though.
I hope you like it. Definitely not a Prelude, but it's a nice car for sure. At least you stayed with Honda...sorta.
Over the weekend I went to a RSX meet to scope out some of the possibilities and figure out which mods I liked best. I had my heart set on mugen/hks/buddy club exhaust and got to hear all three to help make my decision. HKS IT IS! I've also decided on the mugen front lip as opposed to the p1. I've ordered Injen cai as well.
I have a long road ahead of me and the whole being stock thing is seriously making me feel naked. On a side note, I've tinted the windows and added a Mugen Rear View Mirror cover/reservior sleeves.
Not TOO much has changed but I figured a little update wouldn't hurt before I decide to finally start work on the build. ^_^
After the tint and Mugen rearview mirror cover I decided to keep things simple and just mod things aesthetically. After all, I had full intentions of keeping this as close to stock as possible for a daily driver.
So first I got my A-Spec lipkit and A-Spec wing.
Then I ran across some winter wheels to preserve my stockies. 17x8 +35 Hyper Black Rota Boosts.
Then I decided I needed coilovers since I looked like a monster truck. I went with K-Sport Kontrol Pro coilovers.
I've added minor things like my audio junk (AVIC F90-BT + components), Injen CAI, minor VIS/Password JDM carbon fiber under the hood, Brembo slotted rotors, Hawk pads, resonator delete blah blah. I also took advantage of the huge Mugen sale over the summer so these puppies are going on this spring. 18x7.5 Offset 48 Mugen GPs.
Once those go on, the suspension will be finished and the car will be garaged and built. I'm leaning towards an upgraded Peakboost kit at the moment. However, I may change my mind by the time I reach that point with the car. We'll see.. it's been fun.
