Last Friday after lunch, I was hit hard by an SUV driver driving home. I am ok, there is no need to worry about me. I have some abrasions on my left side, and I have a lot of stiffness in my shoulders and neck. Other than that, I am ok.
I wanted to tell everyone the facts as I know them, in case you guys are interested. I have no recollection of the actual accident, because I apparently blacked out for a few minutes after I was hit. I have also included a link to pictures of the car, which is totaled, at the bottom of this post.
I was waiting at a stoplight at the very busy intersection of Briar Creek and route 70, and I was the first car in the turn lane. There was a grassy median between me and the opposite traffic lanes. Apparently some recent college grad in his new SUV lost control, and started driving on the side of rt 70 up on the grass. He was traveling westbound on 70, perpendicular to where I was waiting. He drove through the grass, and through a ditch, where he went right through the northbound lane next to me and T-boned me right in the driver's side of the car. His car definitely jumped a little coming out of the ditch, and he drove over the median next to me.
He managed to hit me right behind the drivers' seat. A few inches forward and he would have killed me. His SUV actually landed on the rear of my car, which is why it's so badly mangled. Apparently I also slid into a Lexus and 2 other cars, but none of those drivers were hurt. Luckily, one of the women I was having lunch with was a few cars back, and she called 911 and was able to give them information.
I regained consciousness within about 2 minutes of being hit. When I woke up, the paramedics where cutting off my seatbelt and putting a neck brace on. They got me out of the car and put me on the stretcher, and I went straight to Wake Med hospital. I had a lot of tests done, including a CAT scan, chest X-rays, and neck X-rays, and miraculously everything checked out OK. My aunt was there to meet me, and after waiting a long time to get my x-rays checked out they let me go at about 9 pm.
I still need to get a copy of the police report to know what happened. I am now worried about getting paid fairly for the car, and making sure this other moron takes full responsibility for the accident.
Overall, I am so grateful to be alive. Now it's time to get a new car after I move to LA.
**** dude, yeah, good to be alive eh? Scary to think that you can just be sitting at a light minding your own business and still be in an accident like this.

Seriously. I second that. No matter how defensive of a driver you are... nothing you can do about that. Good to hear you're okay though. Hopefully you have receipts of everything done for the car so you can get reinburst for those things as well...
Good luck with everything. Hope all goes well from here on out.
Wow! That is one horrible accident It's good to hear you are ok. So is this the 6th Prelude within a month's span?

Glad you're ok. I think I know the intersection you are talking about. I know 70 can get busy. I'll be living near there soon (corner of Lynn and Creedmore). It seems like SUV drivers have declared war on Preludes........except for Warren, of course.
