I have finally decided to start a progression thread. I've been on this board and owned my 2000 silver prelude for 3 years now, but never got around to starting a proper build/progression thread. So here it is.
I'll start by posting stock pics of the car and as I have time to find and edit photos of what i've done over the years I will update the thread. I have some winter plans for the lude and would like to get what has been already done to the car out of the way, so check back often as I will be updating regularly.
Purchased the car in stock form (except for suspension: tein springs and bilstein shocks) in December of 2006:
The first and and one of the best mods on the car was the addition of some retrofitted headlights. The retrofit was completed by me, and Acura TSX clear lense projectors were used. I sourced OEM parts for quality and reliability, after dealing with ****ty HID kits on previous vehicles I decided to use Phillips 4300K d2s bulbs and Hella ballast's from an Audi. The fire up and warm up time on this setup is far superior to cheap chinese parts. I've had this setup for 3 years and bulbs did not flicker ones, always fired up every time, and i'm still running the same bulbs and ballasts .
I also installed some blacked out turn signal lights to accent the now blacked out look on the headlights. Onto the pictures:
Wasn't long till I wanted wheels. Picked up some 17" konig britelites. Someone had backed into to me and their trailer hitch damaged my hood, so I got a carbon fiber one funded by the other party .
Around that time my flex pipe had let go, and the factory airbreather tube developed a crack, so I also installed my full CAI and some headers. All ebay stuff. I doubt any power was gained, but they sound good though.
Next was the addition of the honda "accessory" lip. Unfortunately I could not find an OEM set, so I had to get a fiberglass replica, however it will most likely get replaced with type-s front and stock painted sides soon.
I really wanted to go for a cleaner look, so I decided I was going to get rid of the stock spoiler. I searched a bit for an OEM trunk without a spoiler and ran across a carbon one. My pocket took a hit, but it was well worth it, very nice fitting and a nice weave.
At the time I was playing around with LED's alot, I found some blacked out clear lense side markers on Ebay and decided to LED retrofit those. The sidemarkers turned out decent, but I will most likely redo them this winter, I have a spare set of those Ebay sidemarkers in the garage, they are suprisingly hard to find.
Purchased a short throw adapter, installed that along with a carbon fiber wrapped weighted shift knob (kinda ironic) .
Also "upgraded" the brakes to EBC red stuff and painted the calipers. By far the worst pads I've had, kept warping the rotors and squealed, also created more brake dust in one day of driving than OEM ones in a year. After experimenting with many different brake setups minus BBK's, I've come to the conclusion that oem rotors with really high end OEM replacement pads are best (No brake dust, No squealing, Nice and even wearing, plus best response). Mind you, I dont track the car, therefore I'm not worried about brake fade from slamming on the brakes repeatedly .
Next came exhaust. Many different attempts before I got it right:
1. Headers, 2.5" piping, Magnaflow muffler - Extremely anoying and raspy!
2. Headers, High Flow Cat, 2.5" piping, Magnaflow muffler - Extremely anoying and raspy again! Cat took care of burned oil smell though, hahaha.
3. Headers, High Flow Cat, 2.5" piping, 08' Mitsubishi Eclipse GT resonator, Magnaflow muffler - Much better, but still far too much droning when warmed up.
4. Headers, Big Body High Flow Cat, 2.5" piping, 08' Mitsubishi Eclipse GT resonator, '08 Mitsu Lancer Big Body Resonator, Magnaflow muffler - Much much better, nice deep sound, could barely tell theres an exhaust when cruising around.
Wow nice prelude...was thinking about doing the same thing to my lude with the carbon fiber look and all...but funds for college took over! Once again amazing lude, one of the best I have seen!
