Well, its looking really awesome and I am surprised about its maintenance, you are really laudable man. BTW i will also suggest you to go without pin stipes.

I was a newby putting these coilovers on. They seemed to be preset to some height and I installed them as they were. I found them to be a tad too low and raised them about an inch. I measured at the middle of the wheel or hub to the fender and it is sitting right on 13 inches now.

Ride height is a personal preference. I find this height perfect for the streets here, my daily driving, and I'm partial to the stance too

the BC's are great really like the way they ride and got them to a perfect height for my streets. i dropped it as low as i could without rubbing the fender wells. if i remember correctly i measured from the ground to my rear quarter panel and am around 24". what dampening setting are you at? stock here, think it's stock 8

^^sorry for the delayed reply. I've set me dampening anywhere from 1 - 17 or so. i think i am now about the same as you. What i really like about the BCs is you can feel the difference with each click. I'm supposed to get my new springs this week - finally. i'll update the ride difference after I get those on.

Something I did this weekend was to tighten my moon roof and it quietened my rattle! I'm sorry I didn't take photos of this but it's really not that bad of a maintenance project.

I've read many postings about the slide rails wearing out and you have to replace those. That looks like it would be a pita to do!! Anyway, I decided to remove the glass so i could get a good look at things from the top and I found loose screws that hold the glass bracket to the lift which was causing my rattle. Tightened the screws and the rattle is gone!

Here's what you do - from memory. Get a blanket, several towels, or something to protect the outside top of the vehicle just behind the moon roof. Hop inside the car and slide back the shade. Be sure the moon roof is in the closed position. Look on both sides of the glass for a cover about 10" long with a screw cover closer to the rear of the car. Flip the screw cover out and remove the screw. Now slide that cover toward the rear of the car and out. This reveals 4 bolts/nuts on each side. Remove all the nuts. NOTE: there will be some shims between the bracket and the frame of the glass. You can get those after you lift the glass but be very aware where and how many are under each edge.

Now, you're about to lift the glass and glass frame out of position and then what to do with it, right? Place if very gently onto the blanket or protective material you put over the top of the roof! Don't forget to look for the shims and put those somewhere in order and exactly how you found them.

From the outside top looking down onto the rails and such, look for some screws that hold the glass bracket to the lifter and rails. There should be about 6 screws on each side. Those screws were my issue. All of them were loose.

I tightened all those screws and then replaced the glass - with the shims as I removed them - tested for leaks - and took a test drive. No more parachutes!! .. ah i mean rattles! That was from Indiana Jones Temple of Doom

Well, I have an update on the custom springs I ordered from Import Image Racing - No Update! I'm getting a little put out waiting on these springs. They advertise 7 - 10 days and it has now been... wait for it.. 19 business days. That's right, 19 open for business Mon - Fri working days. I am beginning to think I am getting the run around after dropping the $100.00 Sept 12th. I have a road trip in 5 days and was planning to have these on before then. I'll update you later on the results.

^^ nothing wrong with the 8 / 6 spring rates. I just didn't like the ride as well as I do now with the 8 / 4 rates. Yes, I finally got them and installed them this past Saturday. Simple operation to swap out the springs. I'll not go into detail here because all you got to do is check out BC Racing and youtube!

My impressions so far... much more balanced for my taste. I always got the feeling the rear springs at 6 were too stiff. Now that I have the 4s on the rear it feels like the whole car responds equally to a dip etc. This setup just fits me better for how I drive and the conditions of my most driven roads.

Ran across a couple photos I thought I'd post.

Painted the bezels awhile back and just forgot to mention it.

Just a photo of the engine bay at around 185K miles! Nothing special to see - just a stock H22.

As a reminder guys, always play safe and keep it wrapped!

Isn't it awesome how much painting the gauge rings improves the look of the interior? A touch of BMW goes a long way haha.

Just an update as a side note, I picked up a "new toy" just after Christmas. I guess you could say it is a present to myself for my tinker side. Not sure just yet what role it will play in my "garage" which only consists of 2 cars. I've driven it everyday to work this week to see if i can use it as a DD to let my baby rest alittle. We'll see. it sure is fun to drop the top and cruise but only had one 50 degree day to do that so far.

1995 Miata, 5 speed, 1.8 engine... zoom zoom!
