My 4th gen build, sleeved, built motor, tucked, air to water intercooler. =)

So Im going to post the story/saga that is my car. How it was when I first had the car, to where it is now. A couple of people on this forum know the stuff I've been doing to it simply because they go to the same shop I've had all my work done. But hopefully this thread can be used to inspire others. Here we go!

So this is when I had some money laying around. I started off where almost everyone started. I ended up buying some new wheels, exhaust and a rare gemini CF hood (rather fugly I must say but it was rare!) I believe it was one of three. I wasn't really digging it bug you know... everyone goes through the ricer phase I suppose! =)

I also was able to get the Seibon CF lip. I ALWAYS always wanted one. I tried to get my hands on the real stuff but to those who know... they're very rare and to find one in good condition. To find one in great shape would the equivalent of having a unicorn as your pet pony. Yeah not going to happen! Or is it?

This is a pic of the engine bay when I went boost! Yeah quite the big step. I was torn between going N/A and Boost and I felt there was far more potential in driving a boosted car. I was SOO conservative when I first had it. I told the guy who made the turbo kit for me that I didnt want the motor to blow and I just wanted to boost it at like 5 pounds. He laughed and told me sure. I remember him saying implicitly "You'll want more boost."

Car? What car?

Hahaha memories. I believe this is the first time I entered the car at DTP. Had lots of fun. I had a few more stuff on here. I was able to get my hands on some volks that another VPC member. He was quite adamant about not selling it to me. I had to get a friend to buy it off of him for the price I offered to buy it. Backdoor deal FTW? Its not only a deal with your gf you know...

You can also see the Spoon CF lip. Thanks to John for hooking me up with his.

2008 was a big year. I had a bit more money to play around with. So I got heavy ass stereo system going. I also go some interior stuff done. Nothing major. Just a navi and some gauges.

2009 well yeah she started the year off as nice paper weight. A friend blew the motor as he went down the track with the map sensor off. He had the CEL and he still redlined it all the way down the track. Boost + No extra fuel = Leeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaannn! = Boom! When the motor blew I started to think about what I wanted to do with the car. I even though about just leaving it on the side of the road. >.<

You can see from the pics above why I was pretty tempted to freaking torch the thing.

In the end; I didn't have the heart to do it. I've been through too much with the car. Too many memories. Some bad but for the most part it has always been a source of happiness for me. I decided to go all out on it. I finished school and I was making decent coin.

Im not going to go over the list of parts right now. Cause frankly it makes my head hurt trying to remember everything. The highlights are: custom fabricated PWR radiator, PWR water to air intercooler, gt35r with tial housing, sleeved block, forged internals, built head ported and polished. And yeah a bunch of other stuff. I will put the parts list a later time.

Battery relocation. Cause well I needed the space. =P

Top mount, intercooler and icebox/reservoir mock up.

New hardlines for brakes. I did an ABS delete for more room and to have more a clean look to the engine bay.

Push-Pull Flex-A-Lite fans mounted with the intercooler heat exhanger mounted

Braided hoses with black AN fittings. Samco hoses are so two thousand-late. =P

You can see most of the polish components done. The one off catch can, downpipe made out of oval tubing for clearance purposes. Its still got a 3 inch internal diameter but I dont know how exhaust gases will flow on it simply because I dont even know of anyone doing this. Im hoping it doesnt not hinder performance too much but im obviously not going for an "all go setup" here. You can also see the wastegate dump tube recirculating in to th downpipe. I did this because I wanted to hear the turbo spool. I've read somewhere that recirculating the wastegate gases back to the down pipe would interfere with exhaust gas velocity. But who knows Im not an engineer. =P

Picture of the powersteering reservoir and coolant reservoir. Both internall baffled so... it took a long time to make. >.<

This is a pic as she sits now. I was told the car started last saturday. Unfortunately, I was not there to witness the car starting. I was at work friggin paying for all the friggin stuff I did to the car.

Why am I doing this you ask? I didn't do it to try and impress people who dislike me. I did it because I love this car. I'll probably pass it on to my grand kids or something.

A couple of things I learned through this whole thing:
Do a ton of research. If you think you've done enough you havent! Because frankly it never ends!
Build your car the way YOU want it to be built.
Add a couple thousand to your original budget.

The lip is not really new. But I just wanted to the highlight the fact that its a real spoon cf lip. =) Forgive the messiness. She is quite dirty. Gathering dust for almost 8 months or so. *sigh*

Interior is back together as well! The blue Autometer booster gauge looks out of place I think I will switch to the nexus boost gauge when its all done. Again not new but its back together!

Just in case... LOL. Im gonna end up getting one mounted somewhere in the car.

Another pic of the engine bay. Its too bad that im not really a photographer. I cant make it look as nice in pictures as it looks in person. =(

I was supposed to take a video of the car starting up and watch the water/ice reservoir and... lets just say I dont really know how to use my camera all that well. But you can still see the water swirling as the water is being pumped back in... =P

Last but not the least. A VIDEO of her running. She sounds pretty mean.
YouTube - MVI 0316

My guy said she was hitting 13 pounds at 4K. Not full broken in yet so she hasnt seen fullboost. Needless to say she will get almost double that.

That tach is so two-thousand-and-late

Seriously though, that's one helluva car. I really like the thought that went into all the pieces. I have a valve cover that has two -12AN bungs coming off of the front of the valve cover, but it still needs powdercoated and I need to get a whole bunch of money for the AN lines, crankcase catch can and a bung welded into the oil pan to return excess oil in the bottom for maintenance free backpressure relief!

Awesome build, awesome car!

Totally feel you when you're talking about your feelings for the car... The good, the bad, know all too well.

I wish you all the luck in the world with your lude, may she bring you joy and happiness for years to come.

Really? I think it suites the other defi bf gauges I have in the dash. I also use the tach/shift light for race purposes. =)

I was only joking, man. You see alot of cars with tachs that either serve no purpose or are way too big. Your tach is a nice size and I like the brand Defi as I think it brings more street-cred than Autometer (and I've had at least 2 autometer gauges die on me in the past). But I have pictures from a car show I went to in 2002 back when the fast and furious phase was in full force and EVERY car had a huge tach on the dash.
