So I decided to give the new Meguiars M105 compound a try for the trunk area of my prelude this weekend. The Meguiars M105 compound has been receiving a lot of hype on the autopia.org forums for its extremely fast cut and its power to correct heavily swirled paint.
My trunk area was badly swirled up recently because of my stupid mistake to leave front entrance flap of my enclosed
car canopy loose instead of tied up and secured. With the heavy winds recently.. the flap was rubbing back and forth over the trunk and bumper area. This resulted in the following damage:
As you can see.. I removed the spoiler so I could have full access to use the M105 compound with my PC7424.
I proceeded to do a couple of passes with the M105 and it surprisingly tackled the swirls with no problem at all.
The M105 eliminated the swirls and spider webs, but it being an ultra cut compound.. it doesnt quite leave a wax ready finish.
So I decided to do a couple of passes using some Menzera 106ff nano polish to clear up the haziness left behind from the M105.
Once that was done.. I decided to use the
Clearkote pink moose glaze mixture to further add some wetness and pop to the flake of the paint. After that was done.. I layered the trunk area with 2 layers of Meguiars M26 High Tech Yellow Liquid Wax.
Final results:
Hopefully next weekend I will have some time allocated to continue with the rest of the prelude. I doubt I will need to use the M105 for the rest of the car as it is still in surprisingly good shape since last years
detail.
Thanks for looking.
