The Journey Begins

So let me start off by saying Hello to every one. I am a relatively new member here. I have a 2000 SH, leather interior, USDM fogs, side wind deflectors, Honda 6 disk in dash CD player and heated seats and mirrors, yay for Canadian Models. I've recently rolled 100k km, or roughly 60k miles for some of you.

The car is almost completely stock mechanically. I haven't changed anything on it yet but as I am starting to get into Auto X I plan on possibly getting some springs and shocks later as well as a rear bar.

So, having 6 days off of work in a row I managed to find some time to treat my baby. During a one hour gap in the rain, I pulled the car out or the garage for a through cleaning. I started by spraying all 4 wheels and their wheel wells with a couple shots of simple green. I then went around with a bucket with dish soap and a little amonia in it, I find the amonia helps cut through some of the tougher stuff. I grabbed a brush a cloth and a hose and scrubbed the wheels down like crazy. I also took the brush and cleaned out the wheel wells with the help of the hose. The front ones were not that bad, but I am positive the back ones dropped a pound or two of dirt each. After this I emptied the bucket and filled it back up with the same mixture.

Next the rest of the car got washed with this concoction. Some of you are probably going wow, he is an idiot, he is going to strip all his wax. Well, that is what I wanted it to do. Halfway through this it started pouring on me, so I finished it up and pulled it into the garage where it got wiped down with some micro fiber towels. After it got dried she got a through rub down with a clay bar, something that it has never had. After that came stage one and two of the meguiers 3 stage wax. Instead of using their caranuba I used Mothers paste tin wax instead. After that I figured that was enough for one day so I let it sit for the night.

The next day I came back and applied another coat of the mother's caranuba. I am not too sure if this stuff layered well, but to me the finish did seem to come out a little deeper and wetter looking. After all that I realized i forgot to wax the front bumper so I applied a single coat of a Zymol Cleaning wax to the front. That was it for paint care.

Next was all the exterior trim. I applied some Mother's brand Back to Black to a shop towel and wiped down all the exterior black trim I could find. This I found made a huge difference to how it looked. It really brought back that nice fresh black look to it all even though I hadn't noticed it looking not as great before. Windows followed. I used Stoner Invisible Glass. Let me just say this. I tried this because I saw McNab use it. It works beautifully. Better then anything I've ever tried and I've always had troubles getting clean windows. Inside and out I used this.

The interior started with a through vacuum front, back and under the seats. Floor mats were taken out and vacuumed. I tried using Stoner Interior spray or w/e they call it. WASTE OF TIME. It didn't do anything. Came out smelling alcohol based, then evaporated because you could do anything with it. This is in a cold garage too. When you drenched a mirco fiber with it, and wiped, it did not do anything different then just a plain micro fiber by its self. Upfront I used armor all dash wipes because I had nothing else. I do not really like these guys too much but they were all I had. The leather was also fully wiped down with Armor All Leather wipes. Which I do like, just not before an Auto X event as they tend to make the leather very slippery.

The tires also got a light coat of Eagle One Tire Wet.

So here is the finished product. The pain turned out incredible. The pictures don't really show how well it polished up but you can see all the little flakes reflecting now and it feels so incredibly smooth its also unbelievable.

There is a tire. Yes, I know the rotor is rusty. I plan on painting the calipers black some time and when I do I was doing to paint the rusty parts of the rotor that dont come into contact with anything black also. I also plan on repainting the rims at some point, black with a polished lip. When I do that I will also paint the wheel wells.

A head on Picture. Shaved front emblem.

Another up front.

Side.

Back and Side.

Back. With stickers removed.

Any comments, questions. Letter rip.

Did you black house the headlights or is just the contrast in the pics?

I haven't done anything to them. They are only about 5 months old though. A fender bender took out the old ones. They look like the chrome ones in person, but they look like a really dark chrome, almost like a gun metal black. Around the top and inner side of the lights though there is this black foam part that is attached to the hood.

One white lude that has always put me on the verge of exploding in my pants is BDogg's. Is BDogg on this board? I know he's on PP. I love his Lude.

Thanks for the comments so far. As for the white comment, I am not a real fan of many white cars, but a white prelude, I love it. It is weird because I will park next to another white car and it will look off white. As the topic line suggests this is just the start of the journey. I plan on getting a USDM lip kit for it something either this spring or summer, any one selling one? And a bit of a drop with a new suspension set up in the fall for auto X. So it should only start looking Nicer I hope. Bdogg's is nice. I used to be on PP for awhile and have seen it there. Its incredable. In one of his pictures it looks like he has product labelling magnets on the side. I hope they are magnets used during auto X as I am not a fan of putting product stickers on the car. But either way, his car is incredable but I dont think I have seen him here.

As for the shaved front emblem, there is a fair bit to it in the dollar sector. The H on the front has two little prongs on it that stick into two little holes in the hood and is then glued down. So if you just remove the H you will end up with two holes which looks bad. So to fill the holes you can bondo/body filler it, which is the lame way to go. Of you get them welded shut then sanded down flush. Either method of filling the hole requires a repaint. So just put it off and wait to do it until you need to repaint the hood and get them to do it for you.

Welcome to the site, I hope you enjoy it here.

FYI, I would not paint any part your rotors. Rotors more than anything need free contact with air in order to cool down. Paint will get in the way of that. I know what you mean about rust - it happened all the time on my old Prelude. I think you just need to accept it really. If you want a real short term fix, you can get some sandpaper; that should remove the surface rust.

Looking good Jeff. Glad to see you joined up here. If you ever need any help on the car just give me a shout and I'll give you a hand.

I think an OEM kit would look awesome on there

Thanks, and I will be sure to hit you up. BTW, I was thinking of getting some people together on April 19th just for the hell of it do go for a cruise or something probably up island some where. If it turns out well, there should be an 01/2 teg, two talons, a supra, a skyline and an s2k and possibly another car or two. Should be awesome, just cop bait. Let me know if you would be interested.

As for the OEM kit. I am partially looking into that at the moment. I do have insurance comping up though so we will see. Some thing I have been wanting to see but haven't seen is a white lude with the mugen front. If any one has a pic of a white with the mugen front please send me a link, I spent some time searching but didn't come across any that were white. Thanks.

Car looks great! I wish mine looked as mint. I'd keep it all stock or all Mugen.
