Had my Lude running for a while and thought i might tell the story behind it all. My 16th Bday I got a 99' Acura Integra LS Automatic (awww automatic) None the less i was stoked and very happy. Leather power options, great first car. I didnt realize the car needed tranny fluid so on my way home I began to just rev and rev not moving anywhere. It was time for a new tranny . I have no job so i worked and worked all summer for my grandpa to raise some money for a junkyard tranny and I had a friend put it in for me. Tranny worked great.
Couple months go by and I realize it wasn't going to last me that much longer so i put up a ad on craigslist. Someone offered me this 97 Prelude base, pretty clean. But it needed a new headgasket. I made a deal straight trade + he paid the tow expense and all the gaskets I would need to do it myself. I have NEVER worked on my own car before, besides regular maintenance. So i was willing to take this challenge.
The car was in my Gpas garage while i worked on it. I really had known nothing about what I was going into. All i had was my Helms Manual (WOOT) So i began to work on it everyday after school, here are some pics
while working on the car i decided to grab some Ebay fogs, (silly i know, should probably spend the $$ on getting the car to work but whatever )
Since i had it apart already i wanted to take advantage of this opportunity and replace the piston rings and valve seals to make sure i wouldnt burn any oil. I had a Local shop replace the seals and my Gpa helped with the piston rings.
after installing the new rings i cleaned up the block and the pistons and got them nice and shiny.
After I Did all of this i reassembled everything according to the helms manual and It started right up. So amazing I'm now 18 y.o. and Did this project when i was 17 not knowing anything about cars doing this myself with a little bit of help from my Gpa who is a Chevy guy. He mostly helped with the pistons. This car is a blast to drive and I take pride in it when I turn heads. Here are some more recent photos
Good job rebuilding, especially for your first time, having an experienced person as well as the same manual they use at the dealer was the right way to learn.

Hey thanks for the reply, yeah it had its headaches. (Stripped bolts missing parts) many times I wanted to give up, but I stuck with it and happy with my results. I'm wanting to spend some graduation money on it this year
I dont plan on selling anytime soon. Theres still little things to fix such as the ricey ass exhaust. Freakin Koreans thinking that's cool. was thinking of doing eyelid vinyls to give it a more aggressive look.
Some cheap exhaust, it has 3 resonaters underneath.. when I hit 2.6k it farts so loud, really embarassing when I'm coming home from school lol straight pipe for now.
Way to build man!!!! Thats awesome, popped your cherry on a lude man, wicked. Most people do so on chevys and fords and ****, it takes cahones to do it on a lude first man. Keep up the good work.
