fall colors have settled in

so I found a place to take some pics of my car. I know socal's late in the game in terms of fall colors, but better late than never, right? actually, this year's colors have been more vibrant than previous years, perhaps because overall it's been colder over here than normal.

Cool. Digging that last one. We still have a lot of trees with a lot of leaves on their branches up here...seems weird for mid-December.

Solid! Nice shots. This only reinforces the fact that I really need a front lip lol.

D-I-T-T-O. You know what you are doing when you take shots of a white car in broad daylight and they come out like that I can tell you have a beefy flash...what rig you rockin'? Do you have strobes too?

BTW, I think the CE28N's look killer on your car. I was gonna keep my car stock, but now I have an itch for a mild drop and new, especially wider wheels I have been looking through BB6 photos for hours trying to decide on wheels and yours are in my top 3. Unbelievable, but I don't even like TE37's on BB6's. Currently in my top 3: CE28N, BBS RX, and RE30's. I am thinking a set of EVO IX Enkeis would make a perfect set of track wheels--found a set locally wrapped in A048's

What are the specs on your wheels?

thanks man, I was using just the SB600 speed light for that shoot! I'd love to get more flashes though...

setup is:
Nikon D90
Nikkor 17-55 2.8
Nikon SB600 speed light

yeah, CE28Ns are my favorite wheel of all time and I think they look great on Preludes! I had some GT-Ns on my car before, they were my first set of wheels. I didn't love the look 100% although I did really like the wheels, but overall I think they're a busy design and not as clean as the CEs. I actually lived in Japan in 07-08 and I bought the CEs as a "good job for doing a good job in Japan" present to myself (I taught English) never knew that the Evo wheels would fit on a Prelude, that's pretty cool to know... A048s would be great to have!

specs on the wheels:
17x7.5 +43
tires:
235/40/17

I was able to get the tires to fit, they were rubbing a little bit when I first put them on. I cut the tab off of the rear bumper and molded the inner fender a bit with some light hammering. that resolved 97% of the rubbing, and the first couple laps at Buttonwillow resolved the last part. I guess hitting some bumps on the track further molded the inner fender into not rubbing!

Nice! Where in Japan did you live/work? Did you go through JET?

Hhmmm, so you were rubbing with your current setup eh? The EVO wheels are 17x8 et38...Maybe I can get away with this setup with 215/40/17's or something close.

Found a deal on some RPF1's locally, but still in limbo whether I like them on BB6's or not. I have only seen like 2 or 3 pics of them on a bb6

I lived in a small city called Kusatsu which is situated 20 minutes east of Kyoto. I worked through AEON (AEONet Homepage) and more specifically their Amity division which teaches little kids.

I'm pretty sure 17x8 +38 is like the exact size and offset to fit the 8in wheels. you'd probably easily get away with 215s, but then it makes me sad that you wouldn't be utilizing all the extra width hah.

RPF1s are nice wheels, but yeah they're rare on the BB6...

Totally forgot to reply...

That's great man. Don't think I have ever been to Kusatsu, but I might have passed by it on a train at some point lol. I never taught English, but everyone always told me they had bad experiences with AEON and NOVA. Sounds like your experience was cool(?). I just got back from Japan for work. Left my f'n camera at home, so I improvised and took pics with my GoPro...

thanks man!

car is going to be getting a cosmetic refresh, most likely taking it in this week to get my new stuff painted so it won't be as simple as it is now.

yeah, well NOVA is terrible (and bankrupt), AEON is a lot better IMO, but I also really lucked out and had an amazing boss and Japanese staff. I had a really great time and did some cool stuff like watching JGTC @ Suzuka Circuit: Suzuka Circuit - a set on Flickr

what do you do for work?

Killer. You got some awesome action shots in there! Been meaning to make it out to Suzuka. I usually don't have much time when I am on business now...

I do International Sales and Distribution for GoPro. Just got back from Toyko Auto Salon. Had a press release there and setup up the GoPro section of Tajima Motor Corp's booth. Got lucky and spearheaded the Monster Tajima's Pike's Peak car sponsorship. Took a lot of sleepless nights and mucho trabajo, but it is happening! HRE Performance Wheels ? Blog – Hill Climb Champion “Monster” Tajima to Tackle Pike’s Peak on HRE Wheels in 2011

TAS was pretty awesome. Tomonobu Fujii came by and we chatted for a bit. I hooked him up with a cam and he was elated! lol

that's awesome! congrats on the Tajima Pike's Peak sponsorship. so I assume you'll probably be going out to the hill climb this year? I've actually really been wanting to go, and my GF has family out in Colorado so I might actually make it out there.

I went to TAS 2 TASes ago, and it was amazing. I was working for Bulletproof Automotive, a JDM parts importer and we got to go out there and visit a bunch of tuners and stuff. here's a thread @ the car lounge that I made: VWVortex.com - My JDM Journey

Very cool! Hella TASes ago J/K

Its a fun show for sure. There were so many FI CRZ's there! I am glad to see it actually lol. I talked to Bisi at SEMA last year and he was telling me that there is a ton of potential for the car. His CRZ is insane!

And yeah, I should be at Pikes Peak this year. That would be sick if we can meet up. And man, amazing shots in the TCL thread! MaD pRopZ yo! haha

Where are you working now? And slight tangent, but I have been wondering about this since you mentioned that the BB6 is now your "fun" car, what else are you currently rolling in?

thanks!

yeah, I like the CRZ and think it's a pretty cool platform for modding. I'd like to see some stuff done on the electric motor side, I personally think there's a lot of potential there.

I'm actually trying my own thing, bought a CNC milling machine with my friend and we're going at it with some random products, and going to target niche markets that have people that want to make stuff but don't have access to machines. actually, one of our ideas is to make some really solid camera mounts for cars. *nudge nudge* hah.

I picked up a CR-V with wannabe AWD a couple of years ago. love it! perfect complement to a sporty car. gonna test out the AWD capabilities in mammoth next month
