Black Sapphire Metallic 5gen Prelude

Thought I share my new Black Sapphire Metallic Prelude. Got into a minor accident that total about 1k in repairs and a fat check from the fool that hit me I thought it was time to get the whole car repainted. Hood was fading.. spoiler was fading.. top of the car was fading.... So it was time for a new paint job. Only thing left to do was pick a color. Black Sapphire Metallic it is. I have a buddy that owns a body shop that only works on benz and bmw and said he would hook it up so I went with bmw black... 4k later heres what it looks like now. Soon... I'll have my retrofits. Currently being worked on by mr. prelude1897. Photos taken with a iPhone. No wax on car yet... Not for another 1 month and 3 weeks. Its been cold here in houston.

why didn't you have the sides and rear painted to match?

is there anything on your car from a type s other than the badge?

Nothing Type-S about the car. Came with the car when I purchased it. Suprisingly enough the car was bone stock besides the grill.

Sides and rear were never painted because my painter was going to charge me a extra 350 to paint them. I actually want the matching OEM lip for the sides and rear. So I opted to get my retros done first then use my tax return for this year and get the remaining lip kit second. I didn't want to fork up the extra 350 when I am just going to replace them.

This is not a good thing. You should have waited to paint the whole car when you had the money to get the sides and rear. Now if you were to ever take it to another guy to get it painted, they won't touch it because that's not an original paint job. Trust me, I know a guy who's going thru the same hell because of that right now. Whatever you do, go back to your buddy and insist that he gives you the paint code for this new black so that if you get in a bind in the future, it won't come back to bite you in the ass.

But the color does look good, nice choice on wheels too.
