Black beauty or black junk?

Either way, i'm stuck with these....:

that are going to be put on this....:

The wheels used to look like this...:

Anyway, i had the spokes of the GTPs high polished then clear powdercoated black for a glossy look. I know some of you think i should've kept them silver and some like the black, but i already have silver wheels and a little change is always good in life. I just hope i like the way it'll look on my car!
I still have to bolt the spokes back in. In those pics it's just sitting on top of the rim.
If there are any guys here on LI or close by NYC, the guy i brought them too does an awesome job. If anyone wants to high polish(like the diamond cut Volk GTPs) their wheels or have them powdercoated or whatever, i can give you contact information. It was, however, more money than i expected, but the results are perfect. I guess it always happens that way.
Any comment welcome.

heh, well believe it! Trust me, i made sure that the finish would come out like it was from a factory before i gave him any money. And if you can believe this, when i dropped the spokes off at his shop some guy had his 18" LE-37t's there to get painted some nasty a$$ color. I guess whatever floats your boat.

Alvin,
Thanks. As for price, lets just say i could've bought another set of wheels

cookout,
thanks

I think the wheels look great but I wouldn't have had the balls to paint volks. It looks very unique(in a good way).

Hey Tom, what's up. Rims look sweet. I think grey would have looked a bit better but leaving the silver rim still pulls off a great look. What are you doing with the old rims? Car is looking real good now with the shaving and headlights.

Could you tell me some info as to how much something like this goes for? The clearcoat on my rims are starting to flake off and there are some 'stains' that I can not remove. They look like chemical burns. How much to just polish them and clear coat it and how long did the process take. Thanks.

not a fan of black colored rims....it's too hard to see the design, then when that happens, what's the point in spending >$1k for them for looks unless you're going to do that for minimal performance. with these rims, the only style i'd choose would be the gunmetal w/ a polished lip...but even then, a lot of gunmetal applications look too dark to see

Thanks y'all for the comments.

Anubyss,
The price really depends on the complexity of the wheel spokes. But i'm pretty sure it could be anywhere from 700-1000 dollars for a high polish(i mean REAL high-polish though. Like the lip on my wheels. That's what my spokes looked like before he painted) with a clear coat depending on the application. This guy specializes in wheels so it's kind of worth it. He had all sorts of expensive wheels there from HRE to Hamaan to Volks.

vile10,
Volk doesn't do this particular wheel in black. They do do gunmetal, white, silver(the way mine originally were), and diamond cut which look like this:

To make a long story short, at first i wanted silver and told him to order silver once he got the check. Then i decided i wanted gunmetal and called to tell him but it was too late. He had already ordered the wheels which were special ordered because they don't make this wheel in a 4x114.3 bolt pattern. They took 2 1/2 months to get and when they came, they came in silver. I wasn't about ready to go through the process of returning bull****. So i just researched what i could do that's unique and where it could be done like it was done from the factory.

Dave,
I don't even think i ever told you about what i was doing, right? Anyway, i hear you on the grey, but i wanted to try something different. I got my front lip back the other day and i'm going to be taking care off everything on monday..i.e. washing and cleaning the interior of my car, mounting the tires on the wheels and puting the lip back on. My car is filth right now. As for the old wheels, i'm keeping them for now and i'll probably just use them in the winter time considering i can't use stock wheels anymore due to the brake upgrade. Don't worry, we will meet soon.

preludesikid,
The front lip is an Azect lip. I had to import it from japan. Contact gware@japan.co.jp if you want more information on price and availability. I think Azect stop producing kits for the BB1/BB4 prelude so you might be out of luck. Good luck.

Joon,
Will do. I haven't been on AOL IM for a while now. Sorry for not keeping in touch. Now just imagine the pics of our cars together, heh.

Arrmand,
Well, i was actually about to keep them high polished silver but then i just said "fvck it!" and i told him to do black. I know where you're coming from though. I used to feel the same way but a little change is good and now i have a choice of silver and dark. Plus, the finish i got done is glossy and not flat so you'll be able to see reflections of light when they are clean which should help in seeing the design at day and night.

boyguan,
I know dude! I don't know if i should replace them or not. What do y'all think?
