I don't know why anyone buys those gatorback belts, such a gimmick, it's like "hey, why wait for my belt to crack when I can buy one that comes that way!".

It's been a while since I've posted any updates, but here it goes...

Ever since I had the Prelude back in Colorado, I started to drive it for the first two weeks, then I thought I had over-revved the engine and bent some valves. Turns out, the engine had vibrated so much, it had knocked off one of my spark plug wires from the distributor cap, so that's why I was getting a misfire. Thank God!

I unfortunately picked up right towards the end of the "season" and made it to a couple car shows (Castle Rock Cancer Walk Car Show and 5280Fest) as well as local Colorado Springs Meets and a Denver Toys R' Us Meet. I also have started working on shaving and painting my trunk which will teach me many things when it's time to do the same to the engine bay. So as usual, here's a pictoral diary of the most recent happenings...

Denver Toys R' Us Meet

Trunk getting redone. I bought 1.6lbs of dry ice from a King Soopers Grocery Store for only $1.99. I really thought it'd be more money! But the key thing to note is that you crush up the dry ice when you put it on the sound deadening. Within 30 seconds, you will hear pops and pings from the metal and the tar-substance contracting. It's ridiculous how easy it came up with a paint scrapper. I didn't use any muscles at all, it was great!

How much sound deadening I got out. It actually probably didn't weigh more than 2lbs unfortunately...

I don't use a spare tire anymore anyway, so time to take out that pesky bolt down piece.

This isn't what it looks like, it's actually rust converter, haha.

Some white primer (I'm not done just yet, but it's a start)

A couple of beauty shots...

A couple of shots from a prelude meet that "Duhockey" put together for tonight. It was a fun time and hopefully next time we get a couple more Preludes to join up with us!

Pretty nice turnout! Wish there's turnouts like that around my area.

Here were a couple touch-up pictures I did recently. My dad demonstrated on the driver's side how he used rust-converter and hi-temp paint to clean up the inner surface of the Wilwood oversized brake rotors. So I recreated it on the passengers side. I also took off the wheel well and gave a couple exposed surfaces and sprayed them with some 3M rubberized undercoating as well as cleaning up the ball joints and coilovers with some WD-40.

I also took some advice from another poster about using "Black Magic" on some of my more faded surfaces, particularly the area where the windshield meets the firewall. Look at the mess that was underneath it! Must have been from those years in El Paso Texas' sand storms...

You can see some of the deeper scratches and fading

I'll find the "after" pictures in a bit and post those!

Nice touch on the brakes. I did the same and it held up for a couple years!

Your dad is pretty awesome for supporting your hobby. I didn't get a chance to read the entire build, but did read most of the first page. Quite an incredible story and seriously an inspiration to someone who is trying to restore a Prelude to its former glory. Congratulations on all your hard work.
