It's a little more than 1.5 in. drop...basically less than a 2-finger gap in the back, right at 2-finger gap in the front. Setup currently is Koni Sports (revalved) and Ground Controls with 600 lb. springs front/back. Since Ray, Mark, etc. mentioned TEINs, I just bought a set of HA's from James Chan (vtec98prelude I think was his SN). Anyways, all 4 upper collars are seized, but I've heard that's an issue with HA's after time. Having them sent out to TEIN to have refreshed/revalved/resprung. At no extra cost, they will repaint it.

^^^ Whoa. Tein revalved your struts for free? That's contrary to the bad things I hear about them. Hmm....

Honestly, I had Tein SS on my Prelude, and the ride was horrific. Based on that I will never recommend Tein to anyone.

I think James wrote that the repaint was free and not the revalving.

How is James doing? Does he still have his Prelude?

Collars seizing happens across the board not just to the HA's.

Tein in general though....

Just the paint, not the revalving....yeah, I wish revalvings were free. Haven't sent it out yet, but it mentions that on the repair order form.

As for the ride, the HA's is supposed to be harsher than the SS due to the spring rates and rebounding of its shocks. I've ridden on a couple of people's Preludes with HA's, and to me anyways, they didn't feel as harsh as my revalved Konis/high sprung GC setup. I expect my TEINs to return just as harsh as my setup now, if not more so.

To me my HAs weren't that harsh, But I did have them set at the softer settings.

Harshness just means that the valving sucks. I've ridden in cars with 800/800 rates that felt like pillows, because the valving was money.

IMO, that's what you get when you spend >$2500 on dampers: quality valving.

Yeah, but that's just the thing...it depends on what purposes the shocks are for, and your budget. If you're going to have revalving and its purpose is for the track, I certainly don't expect it to feel like I'm on air rides on the street. I expect rebound to be hard, and since most typical tracks don't have broken pavement, potholes, and the like, I want the car to stay glued to the surface. I want the suspension do that well...I don't care about how it feels outside of the track. Because of that, I won't spend $2500 if my budget will only allow me $1000. Priorities (ie: having a child) kinda limits me there.
